Because I am so damn eaten up with this turkey stuff I had to go out this morning to see what was cooking. An it was cooking.

It began with 10 jakes in the field (I have hunted the youth season and there are a ton of jakes this year. May be the best ever). Then the two year old toms followed. There were four. Followed by 10 hens that were roosted very close to where I was sitting. Last but not least was boss goobler who stayed out of site but vocalized often.

The 10 hens ignored the four two year old bird and made there way to casanova. So far boss gobb has roosted in nearly the same area. I look forward to meeting him next Saturday.

In my pursuit of this great bird, I too have found much of the same thing as you. Even my trip to Florida, I found many many jakes, two year old longbeards, and hens, on or near the property I hunt. That bodes well for years to come. I discovered much the same thing when I took a youth hunting last weekend. Lots of jakes on or near my property. I am pumped about the next few years of turkey hunting!! :D

I rose early to do some scouting this morning and heard several on the roost. Then on the way out seen a few hens and ole mack daddy himself, struttin for all the ladies. I hope he makes his way over to the next farm or two where I can hunt. :D Gobbled good on the limb then got quiet.
