Ive talked to people all over the united states and they said that they have had the same problem that i had this year with gobblers. it seems that they acted like bisexuals! Seriously, one time i was hunting and i had saw a gobbler in a field going the opposite direction, so i got down within 80 yards of the huge gobbler and i soft called to him. Then, the bird took off at full speed, in the other direction! Also, the gobblers were running with jakes in the middle of season! Did any one else have this problem???

Sometimes you have to act like a gobbler to kill a gobbler. I had the same problem, but with a little sneaking, alot of Rambo-ing, and a raspy rare yelp and a lot of purring and clucking, I limited out quickly.

call shy -- if I got shot at half the time my wife called me to the bedroom -- well, I'd be livin in the dog kennel.

Dealing with gay gobblers has always been a problem, and now with gay marriages been allowed more and more, it's only going to get worse.

what u get out, is what u put in

Thats why I kill gay gobblers first!!! If you keep culling for the gay ones, then eventually you will eliminate them all.

Maybe the problem there gobblergetter is that I hunt in the United States. It may be different in the "untied states"!!!

WE have tried the gobble call, but yet they seem to know that the sorce of the call is not a live gobbler. We tried decoys also, and had the same results. Even with a jake decoy! Once i even thought that maybe if i ran around naked that the turkeys would come. Didnt really wanna do that though! If only they would allow us to use electronic calls for that reason, this wouldnt be a problem. But i would rather use a slate or call that i make the sounds myself rather than an electronic call! Maybe the hunting will be better next year, but i cant complain, at my dads hunttund club we harvested 7 gobblers, (no jakes). We sat by a tree and waited for the turkeys to come to us. Next year will be more productive because we have more vocal 2 year olds.

keep in mind in nature the hens are supposed to go to the gobblers..so this doesnt mean they was gay gobblers..they may have already seen/heard real hens in the direction you saw them leave..sounds like they came close enough to give you some courtesy..when they figured out that you wasnt real they headed for the real deal..this is the part of turkey hunting i enjoy some times your plan works sometimes it dont..

I had the same problem in the earlier part of the season. I fixed that problem though, when I put a Tom decoy on top of a Jake decoy.

I am telling ya, too many hunters want to get out there and yak yak yak or yelp yelp yelp. Turkeys 10 years ago loved that crap. You aint hunting with Harold Knight. The real world, most birds are beat, shot, slapped and called to death, literally!!! If you keep it soft, short and sweet, you will kill more birds. I guarantee that a cluck and a purr will kill more birds than any cut, cackle, or yelp. No question about it!!! The problem is that everybody wants to do like the TV and "magazine hunters" do! Yelp Yelp Yelp yelp yelp yelp!!!! There is more to it than calling. Real turkeys move! Sometimes you have to move. Closer..... Farther away, left, right Loud, soft. Be different and you will prevail!!!
