We are headed for LBL this morning about 10:00. We are camping at Wranglers Camp across from the bath house. Anyone want to stop by feel free to. We will have a toy hauler towed by a white chevrolet 4x4. Should be a black GMC 4x4 there too.Good luck to all .

LBL seemed to be packed in the area we were in this morn. There were 7 vehicles around the area we were hunting. We saw 2 vehicles with Lost River Game Calls stickers on them, one was maroon from Warren County....Was that you Skindog? We heard 5 shots but did not hear any birds. When leaving we ended up getting busted by one headed our way....that's the way it goes sometimes.

I was drawn for next week but went with a buddy to film/call. I hope next weekend fairs better. It was good to be in the woods this morning but I'm headed out to do a little crappie fishing. With the wind like it is, I may have to film KY Lakes Deadliest Catch...Good luck to all that go out this quota hunt. Save one for me!

Those opening turkey quota hunts are a zoo. I've only participated in one, about 10 years ago. We were close to Wranglers, on the road to Bacon Creek. We had been patterning 2 toms in one area and hadn't seen a soul during scouting. We didn't bother checking them out the day before the quota hunt started, but evidently some folks had, because there were about 10 trucks in "our spot" that morning, all going after the same two gobbling fools. Never again during a quota hunt for me.

There were 5 of us and the hunting was tough. Saturday we didnt even hear a bird, all day.
Sunday I heard 3 different birds, all about a county away. 2 of my buddies got on a bird up on the north end but it hung up about 75 yards and gobbled its head off until another hunter came to it and bumped it before he quit moving. In 2 days I didnt see a track/feather/or droppings?? Hope everyone else had better luck than us.

Sounds like those hunting were messed up to some degree by those scouting for next weekends hunt! If so, that is pathetic! What about road closures, are thier still some closed?

LBL is tough. Every time I go I say I won't be back. I passed on some jakes last time and wish I had shot one.

Got lucky, got a 20pound, 10.5 beard, 1 inch spurs, at about 8:00 a.m. Sat. That's the good news,:D bad news was to see all the tree damage done by the ice storm.:( It was bad enough hauling the Turkey out, can't imagine dragging a Deer out of those woods.

Ding, Ding we have a winner. The maroon chevy is my truck. This was my first time hunting LBL. I figured it would have been more crowded than it was. I only hunted Sat. and the birds were not vocal at all. Did see some hens and several deer. I couldn't believe all the ice strom damage.

Either I'm really good at guessing or I went to the bowshop at midday had nutcase call Skinner and found out who had all of the Lost River stickers on the truck and you were the culprit.:D

We had a minimum of three Lost River game calls with us and couldn't get a bird to work even a little bit. Skinner said it had to be user error.:D:eek:

Saturday I believe that you would had to have had a magic call or something. Even the hens were quite. By the way I noticed 3 calls missing from our tent. :D
