Had a pretty good opening 3 days in Texas. 7 of 8 hunters kill 13 birds and had a miss. This is success from the first 2 days. Texas turned cold on us and the wind blew 25-40mph for the last 2 days, but it didn't slow the birds or hunters down as 5 of us took the 2 birds allowed.

Part of the hunt is the opportunity to kill a hog if you agree not to kill jakes. Here is 5 of the 10 pigs that fell during the hunt.

No real Outfitter. I have access to the 12,000 acre ranch and the opening 3-4 days of season each Spring. I take a group of 8 down each year. It does cost to hunt the ranch but nothing near what most Outfitters are asking for a hunt down there.

The hunting takes place in North Central Texas.

Congrats, Bill, sounds like you guys put the wood to the thunderchickens.

Just out of curiosity, did you put some uncleaned birds in a freezer and pull 'em out later for this photo op, or were all the birds in this picture killed in one morning?

By the way, stop wearing yourself out, traveling hither and yon hunting turkeys. I need you to be fresh as a daisy in Canada to help me drag my bear out of the woods and clean it. ;)

That's awesome! I'm right outside of Dallas. Glad you guys smoked 'em and good luck with the rest of your season.

Six of the nine pictured were killed the first day and a few the second morning, with a couple in the freezer for taxidermy. We have a cooler we can store birds or hogs as needed which makes for a nice situation and affords a photo like the one shown.

For the guy who tags out quick on his two birds being able to hog hunt is a definite plus, not to mention predators such as yotes and bobcat which we usually kill every year as well.

Don't worry about Canada Ballard, just thinking about getting back up there gets me pumped up. I hope like hell I get to help bring one out for you. Eight weeks is going to fly by once Turkey season gets under way here.
