Was working on our food plots this weekend. I saw two hens with no poults and thought oh no, here we go again for next year. Later that day, I saw a hen with nine poults, a little bigger then a quail. I was going down a logging road and she crossed in front of me with her brood, I stopped the bobcat and let her pass, she walked in front of me twice to make she had all her young. I saw her again in our clover field. My retriever saw the young ones in the grass, went running up to them, the mother went running out in the field to distract the dog, my dog took out after her. She went about 75 yard into the field and then turned around and started chasing my dog. My dog didn't know what the heck hit her. She came running back to me, tail tucked, her head turned around watching that turkey. I about fell off my four wheeler laughing at her. I also saw two gobblers on our other farm, so looks like some survived the season and the storms.
