My advice would be that if you don't need any addictions, then don't take up turkey hunting.:D The first time you have a turkey answer your calls you are hooked. Spring is my favorite time of the year. My other advice would be to just be patient. Good Luck!!!!!

My advice would be to listen to others around you in the hunting world and take advice from many.. Turkey hunting is my favorite thing to do and I have been looking forward to season since last day of last years season! Just enjoy the time in the woods and in God's country listening for that ole tom to hammer down right at daybreak! Good Luck!

Remember and learn from your mistakes. Always call as if your a hen in the woods and not a hunter. Be very patience. Don't stand out in an open field and call trying to get a response. Always have a tree close by in case you need to set-up immediately.

Isn't that the dang truth.
Best advice I can give you is to be patient. If you find yourself wanting to throw in the towel and you know that tom's near, don't give up on him. Call a little and no more for at least 15-30 minutes. He heard you. He knows where you are. He won't forget about you. My very first tom took me four miserable hours of sitting in the drizzling rain against a fence with a hen within 50 yards of me, pecking. Talk about cramps!!! I just about gave up a few times, and I probably would have if I wasn't watching the jerk strut about 100 yards away. I couldn't crawl closer because of the hen, so I waited... and waited... Just when I thought I couldn't take anymore, the tom, a jake and two hens came RUNNING straight at me. When the tom outran the others and got within 30 yards or so I jerked up my gun and busted him on the run.
Most exciting hunt of my life, period. I was worth every grueling moment I waited for him.

Prepare to be frustrated, p***ed off, aggravated, humiliated, out smarted by something with a brain the size of a pea and probably have more fun than youve ever had before while hunting. Good Luck and be patient.:D

I'm a greenhorn turkey hunter myself...the only thing I'll add/repeat is to scout your area and know about where them buggers are :)

Do your scouting at a distance. Start going out at daybreak and listening for the Toms on the roost. Stay until they fly down and track which way they move after they fly down. You should be able to get some sort of pattern to their movement figured out. When opening morning gets here get in between where they are and where they have been going. Alot easier to call a turkey in the direction he is wanting to go anyway.

Find the birds. Get out early and stay late. Don't call too much and definitely don't get frustrated if you don't kill one the first few days you hunt. Turkeys can whip the most seasoned and skilled hunters. Good Luck!!!

Well for starters just go ahead and kick yourself in the "nads". Then go spend an entire day in a room full of women suffering from pms and wanting to talk about their feelings.
If you can stand those, you kinda get an idea what turkey hunting is like.;)
