This is in no way a survey, just wanted some opinions. Would anyone here support the increase of broadhead minimum cutting diameter used for turkey hunting. Say, from the current .875" to 1.250". Or possibly 1.5" Bowhunting turkeys in spring and fall is growing fast. Are there enough turkeys being crippled or wasted to warrent a change? Would it reduce lost birds in your opinion?

I dont really think it would change anything, its like useing a 20 guage slug deer hunting in the hands of the right person its deadly but put it in a dummies hands and ya got a wounded deer. I beleive without knowledge of proper shot placement there is gonna be waste, its just my opinion.

Increasing the broadhead size sounds like a good idea in theory, but overall, you would gain little. The added cutting surface would increase the need for tuning, which most bowhunters already have trouble with. Changing to even a 1.5 inch cut only gets you 1/4 inch of error correction. I say stay with what shoots good out of your setup, and practice more often.

For the past few years I have used the Hammer Head it has a 2" cut and works great on both deer and turkey. Shot placement however, is the key when hunting game. I belive there needs to me more shot placement info out there for bowhunters starting out. Good Hunting.

shoot them in the neck they will drop in their tracks no matter what broadhead you use. yes there isnt much room for error but isnt the challenge what bowhunting is all about.
