hunt during the week if you can. if you have a boat, use it to get to some areas that people won't walk to from the roads. there are a ton of birds there.

I worked out there for six years and killed several gobblers off of the WMA in the spring. My words of advice:

1) Use locator calls very sparingly, if at all. By the time season gets here, those birds will have already heard weeks of owl hoots and crow calls. Let them gobble on their own.
2) With the exception of opening day, call softly and sparingly, and give the turkey twice as long as you normally would to make his way in. I like to scratch around in the leaves a little as I call, etc.
3) Hunt late. Most days that place was a ghost town by 10am - guess when I'd see the gobblers strutting out in the fields? About 11am!
4) Go in by boat if you have access to one. There are plenty of spots on the WMA that can only be reached by boat (without crossing private property), so this can be the ticket to getting away from the crowds. Not to mention, you can always crappie fish if the birds aren't cooperating!

If you have any specific questions about the WMA, drop me an email
