going to see the in laws next week in the berea area,,we normally go up the wk parkway and then through Lexington,,,but wk parkway is rougher then a goat trail,,it will knock your teeth out if you are not watching,,,we was going to take the southern route up the cumberland parkway,,,was wondering how that is,,,,if it was a good highway or not,,
thanks

I go clean across 68/80 and Cumberland Parkway about twice a year going back home to Harlan County. It's much better than West KY Pkwy and even more so since the toll booths are gone. The stretch from Bowling Green to Somerset (about 90 miles) is rather boring but the road is much better than WK. Just think, I drive about 6 1/2 hours and never leave KY....

About 8 or 10 miles east of Somerset on route 80 you can take another route (I think it is 461) and it will knock off a few more miles and keep you from having to drive all the way to London and getting on I-75 North.Rt. 461 goes close to Mt. Vernon which will put you further north and closer to the Berea area.Should save time, miles, and a little gas.

What Davidlondon said, Not sure of the road number either, but if you stay in the left hand lane out of Somerset it will force you onto the right road. /will save time.

I live in Somerset and love to drive on the Cumberland Pkwy. It's not crowded at all and good countryside to view when you're not watching the road! ALso, take Hwy. 461 8miles east of Somerset to Mt. Vernon. It will save you umpteen miles and time going north.

God help you if you are driving it at night after hunting all weekend :) It may be one of the most boring drives you will ever take ( excluding Kansas )

yea it's 461 and also most of the trip between bg and somerset is 70 mph speed limit. and as said before if your making the trip after dark watch for eyes in the road, but also remember, roadkills dont have to be tagged.
