Was thinking of buying a jelly head in .665 for my 1187. Probobly shoot winn supreme #5 2oz loads like I have been. Not looking for a 50yrd gun here, but just a solid 40yrd gun. The setup I use now works, but I like to play around. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome...
Thanks

Get some Nitro 4 x 5 x 7, if you can stand the cost. They are awesome out of a Jellyhead, if you haven't seen the results, you won't believe it. I get around 280 hits on a 9" paper plate at 40 out of my SBE with a Jellyhead.

I'm shooting an old Hastings in .655 and also have an old Mad Max in .655. Both are good chokes for the lead loads I'm currently using, but will only shoot lead. I'm not looking to go to Heavy shot this year just becuse I have other things I need to spend my money on, but it would be nice to have a choke that shoots the loads I'm useing now, and have the option to shoot a heavy shot or nitro loads maybe next year. Right now its winn supreme 2oz #5 or 6 in 3in for me. A good shell at reasonable ranges...

Just yesterday, I got a used 870 Super Mag and grabbed a .665 Jellyhead choke to stick in it. I tried a few different shells this afternoon and the Remington Nitro Turkey 3.5" lead #4's blew everything else away. There might be better combinations out there, but I'm more than satisfied with the pattern it threw. It'll kill a tom or two this April.

Hopefully I will get out and put some patterns up this weekend if the weather is ok...

I shoot 3" winchester supreme 1 3/4oz #5's from and 870 with a 28" barreland a .665 remington choke. Killed both my turkeys last spring past 50 yards, 52 and 54 if I remember right. Usually got around 8 to 12 hits in skull and neck on paper at that range. 1 is all it takes!
