What does everyone think about their calls? I am in the market for a good slate/crystal/or alminium call and have heard good things about their stuff esp. their Old Yeller call. Let me know what you think, any advice is welcome!

Same here, I like my Ol' Yeller. Whatever material it's made of is good stuff... very easy to get a good sound out of with nearly any striker.

The Ole Yeller is a great call. The older ones (pre buy out) are better than the new ones. I have tricked several long beards with the ole yeller. They make solid calls. I really enjoy several of theirs. David and Harold are also great guys.

The Ole yeller came long after the "buy out" you are talking about. The new version is just as good if not better in my opinion. The new one has a better sound board developed by Chris Parrish.
I own over 50 custom friction calls, and always find myself using the Ole Yeller and silver queen in the woods the most.

Ole Yeller and Silver Queen are my two most used calls in the woods. I carry about 10 different strikers to go with them. Cutting on the Yeller with a hickory striker is what I use for a locator most of the time. I've had 3 birds that lost their hens mid-day come running in after hearing a cut sequence. One was so close and came so quick, I didn't even have time to sit down, had to stand behind a tree!:D

I'm not sure about pre buyout or anything, but I've got three Ol Yellers that are probably all around 10 years old and they sound great. Much better sound than the new yella hammer to me. The Ol Yeller is my #1 storebought call. Lots of good memories:).

I like them a lot. Really haven't used any other brands. I used the slatek ol yeller the first time I went out turkey hunting and called a gobbler within 15 minutes!!! He was gobblin and drummin and honestly scared me to death!!! Just some soft cluckin. It was a little luck, but the calls are easy to use.

My friend, they have ownership, and great say in the developement in our products. The issue about being with a great company like Pradco is that our products are being marketing by a postive machine and more financial guidance. In addition, Chris Parrish, and Harold make sure that our calls are worthy to be on a peg in a retail store. Try the Hammer Series!! Thanks for you all support!

If you are looking for a good sounding call for $25 or less, you can't beat Knight & Hale. However, if you are willing to spend $40, I suggest looking in to buying a Cane Creek Pro Custom Glass. Awesome call. You can go to the Cane Creek website and watch Doug run it and YOU WILL be sold.

AMEN to that!!! Those Cane Creek slate and/or glass calls are scary good. Of course, it helps that Doug seems to know what he's doing on the web-site when he's running these calls--to say the least!

Hard to tell what has killed more turkey, Ole Yeller or KYH5N1! Good luck with your choice.

the old yeller is my most used call too. it just seems to sound just a little better every year. my silver queen came loose from the pot last spring, but the slatek still is holding up well.

Are you sure? Because David Hale told me himself that they made Ole Yeller pre buy out. Now I guess David could be wrong about it but I don't think it's likely.
