Apart from the obvious that he's the son of Ron Paul, what would qualify him to be a Senator?
I don't know anything about the guy, other than that he's an eye doctor (BS from Baylor and MD from Duke), but I don't see anything in his background that tells me he knows anything about government or public service. If he's really interested in gov't, why doesn't he start out with something a little smaller, like president of his neighborhood association. :confused:
Reminds me a little of Caroline Kennedy trying to get the appointment to Hillary's senate seat just because her surname was "Kennedy".

According to Section 32 of the Kentucky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky) Constitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution), a state senator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_legislature_(United_States)) must:
be at least 30 years old;
be a citizen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen) of Kentucky;
have resided in the state at least six years and the district at least one year prior to election (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Election).
Sounds to me like most people I know are qualified for the job. :p Career politicians are a big part of what's wrong with this country and this state. Term limits would be a great thing. The only problem is in order for them to be made law, these career politicians are the ones that would have to vote for them. That's not very likely.

Those are the qualifications for being a state senator. Here's the ones for being a US senator like this guy is wanting to do:
Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution sets three qualifications for senators: 1) each senator must be at least 30 years old, 2) must have been a citizen of the United States for at least the past nine years, and 3) must be (at the time of the election) an inhabitant of the state they seek to represent.
That's how Hillary was able to run for her office in New York so quickly.

Has anyone read or heard Ron Paul's message and vision for our country? The MSM made him out to be a whacko because of some of his followers and they were afraid that folks would start to take him seriously and finally listen to his vision for this country. He was probably the most constitutionally literate of all the candidates and his philosophy runs very much libertarian, get the government out of our lives. Other than his non-support for the war, I agreed with his message and really wish he could have done more to steer the direction of this country. If his son has the same philosophy, I will have to hear his message and will encourage each of you to do the same. A carpetbagger GOP senator would be a much better choice for a replacement to Bunning than a socialist like Mongardo who would be a rubber stamp for Obama.
