I've still got a bunch of old Remington Hevishot that I bought at half price one year after season. Guess I'll have to face reality one of these years. :(

It sure is pricey. I was going to start shooting heavy shot this spring, but with money tight as it is I think I'll keep throwin regular lead at them. I'm just not going to spend that much on turkey loads right now...

I'm just glad my guns pattern good with the inexpensive ammo! I get good patterns from Rem Duplex 4x6's. They cost about $17 a box of 10.

You dont have to buy a 40 doller box of shells to kill a bird. Believe me. Call them in close and hold tru. Let your skills do the work not your ammo. I would rather let them get with in 15 yards anyway. It adds more excitment. But pattern also is very small.:)

Main reason that crap is 43 a box is people buy it at that price. Never killed a bird with shells more than $10 a box. Federal premium, winchester, etc. Use the cheaper stuff...

I've bought the $30+/box stuff... once. It didn't pattern as well as the $10 box of Remington Nitro Turkey lead rounds did, so I bought three boxes of the Remingtons the next trip.

Ammo makers told us that the rising cost was due to rising imput cost. I understand completely. But, where is our relief from prices when raw materials drop to prices lower than they were close to ten years ago. All industrial materials that go into ammo Ie brass ,lead, cooper, steel etc have plummeted, why havent our cost. Vote with your wallets stop buying ammo or buy cheaper shooting supplies.

I agree supremes have killed alot of birds, but i like them out a lil farther than that less chance of a miss.I killed a hen fall before last at 60 yrds with lead so i'll keep shooting it .

I have to agree but sometimes it just don't work that way. I have killed several birds with 2 3/4" #4 shot shells that I bought in a box of 25. I bought them for a neighbor's kids to shoot when I took them hunting before I had kids of my own.
Back on topic, I am afraid inflation is something we are going to see a lot of here in the good ol' US!:(

Now don't jump on me for this. Looking around at GM the other day and came across these Fiocchi golden turkey, 3in., 1325 fps., 1 3/4 ounce NP #4. $7.99 for 10. Now I like Federals and Remington and Winchesters (not necessarily in that order) but being the tight old man that I am, I have to try these shells and see what they do on the pattern board. I mostly use a 2 3/4 in. mag. shell and let them get in close.

Ever think of just playin a little string music this spring? One arrow may cost ten dollars but you can shoot it repeatedly. The best part is, its a deer and turkey killer.

Yeah, but sometimes you can find a real good one (liquor and women) that was inexpensive but did the job well. You just have to try them all out!

Buy the regular federal turkey loads, and go hunting. Shooting a turkey at 50-70 yards isn't turkey hunting anyway. You should hear them spit'n'drum, and shake the ground with gobbles!
I would think all ammo would return to normal, as copper and steel prices have plummeted since last summer.

Why would you think that? As if price of unputs has anything to do with prices going down! The other direction, maybe, but not down. Besides, why would they lower the prices, people buy the stuff as it is.

The only reason ammo went up last year was the cost of material. So when copper, etc... goes down, so will ammo prices. That's why I think that.:D

Price of raw materials right now is cheaper than they have been in years, so what has happened to the prices? If anything, they went up. Our country does not run on basic economic rules.

Remington and Winchester 3" turkey loads with copper coated shot haven't gone up much, around $6 or $7/box of ten(10). For some reason, Federal has about doubled, $12.00/box.
When he gets to 30 steps, stretches that neck, shoot him.
