What a jam packed 2 1/2 days of hunting. Sunday, 3 hours after arriving got kicked off the farm I've been hunting for 4 years. Same old story-"I'm having too many problems". I asked if he ever had problems from me and ofcourse he said no but couldn't tell one no without telling all no. I'm the only on turkey hunting this place for 4 years! He has some out of state deer hunters buying there tags else where to the tune of $2000 each! Next morning hunted some beautiful walk in hunting. It looked good but about 3 miles later I hadn't heard or saw the first legal bird! I did manage to get access to some land for my last morning there. Worked a bird off the roost that ended up being henned up. Then fired up another bird and worked him for 2 1/2 hours. He was hung up in the fork of a wash coming into the woods and when I finally figured it out I had gotten too close and bumped him. I set up on him 4 times and screwed the pooch in the end! That evening the wind rolled in. I hooked up with an old friend and we hit 2 of his spots. When we rolled up there was the prettiest rio you ever seen in full strut 75 yards from the road. We hustled, circled around set up and with 50 mph gust it was useless trying to call or set out dekes. We basically spot and stalked 7 different toms and I finally got a jake with 45 minutes left in the deal. I actually had a longbeard in range and somehow didn't see the jake. The tom went behind some brush and the jake stepped out. I shot and was quite surprised when I finally recovered my bird. I acquired permission to deer hunt on a few real good properties and was invited back to deer hunt on a huge place with lots of booners! I'll attach a picture of the biggest 8 pointer I've ever seen which was shot on this place.
