View Full Version : Cruise Info/Help
The Mrs. is interested in taking a cruise for the family over spring break. The question is: does anyone know a good website for CHEAP cruises or a good travel agent in Lex. that can help? I'm have a hard time trying to hook up a cheap airfare and a cheap cruise over the spring break week. Any veteran cruisers out there to help? Thanks.

Sent you a PM with a site I found online. Wasn't sure if it would be OK to post that link, so put it there. Never used them myself, but hope it helps. ;)

if this is your first,go direct to carnival web site.they have a lot of good deals.ports of departure include mobile ala, port canaveral fl,and jacksonville fl,these are the one's we've been out of and always had fun,but we have driven down for all of them, not sure about flying but i do know that for port canaveral they have shuttle buses that pick up cruiseres at orlando and take them over to the ship.

Everyone has there own likes and dislikes. I went on one and there will not be a second. My wife was the one wanting to go and she was also disappointed.

The best website to book any vacation on is one that you own so that you can earn back the commission from your trip.......
If you want to learn how you can do what I do send me a PM!

I dont know how cheap your wanting, but I just found a 5 night cruise for me and the fiance and its running me a little more than 900, through expedia. We are leaving out of Mobile Alabama, then a day at sea, then hitting Cozumel Mexico. Next day we are in Playa Del Carmen, then another day at sea then back in Mobile Alabama. I personally love the days at sea because you just lounge around and do nothing or you can gamble drink or whatever.

I've been on two and believe me, you'll want to have the airfare included in your package...That way if something happens during your flight to the Boarding area. It's not your fault and you can be reimbursed...If you purchase the air fare your self separately and something happens on the way. Your out of luck, you just missed your boarding and cruise.....
Here in Louisville I use the Travel Authority @ 1-502-412-1941 ( Alana ) these people have done me right on the two cruises I've taken. Check to see if they might have an office in Lexington for you.

Thats not the best way to do it.......Travel Authority tells you that to scare you into buying the airline ticket so that they can make more commission on the package....When you book air seperately they only make about $5 on the air and the flight booked with the cruise line cost you ALOT more than if you book them seperately.......To protect yourself against missing the boat you can purchase travel insurance much cheaper. Any agent worth their salt can provide you with travel plans that will give you plenty of time to make your connections and have you there in plenty of time.

Have been on several, but as some others have said, it's a matter of what you like, ect. We had always just got brochures from a few cruise lines to see where they were scheduled to go, and went from there. You can get some great deals thru them. Site I had PM'd you was for info regarding prices, but as I said, I never used them, myself. Cruises are great, though. Have some great memories. Good luck! :D
Thanks for the help so far, guys. I think I forgot to mention that we'd have 2 kids along with us (ages 12 and 14). We've been on one, but a long time ago (honeymoon). I've found some really, and I mean really, cheap airfare out of Lexington on Allegiant Air. So, it's just up to me/us to dig around and find something that works. Thanks again!! J

Then by all mean try Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. They have activities for your Teenage kids, i.e. dances, search and finds etc. They won't be bored for sure...
Maxcam...The reason I say get the air and cruise combined is because both cruises that I went on I checked every way but under a rock for cheaper airfare. But could not get it any cheaper than combining it with the Cruise.... Just my personal experience at cruising so far.

The best cruise line for kids is by far Disney...... As to airfare.....You just need to know where to look and who to book with! ;)
