OK, so I've been out of the loop for quite a while regarding NASCAR. But I was interested to hear that Bill Elliott posted the fastest lap in practice today in the Wood Brother's car. It is good to see both a storied driver and team do well. The Wood Brothers have always done better when they run a limited schedule, and Bill is a master of the super tracks.
Besides, he is really a good guy. He has never been the best as far as crowds & inteviews, etc. but that is hard to teach. He is just a small town guy that can (still) drive the stink out of a car! I hope he does well.

Kenny Wallace didn't cut Awesome Bill any slack on Speed's pre-race show tonight. He was talking about how embarrassing it was to keep taking a past championship provisional year in and year out, without stepping aside. He did say that this was a good situation for all parties, as the Wood Brothers heyday was when they ran a limited schedule and now, running a limited number of races this season, they should give Bill good equipment. I think they are only running 12 races or something.

I didn't see that. But, if they give Elliott a decent pony he may do well. I am just not a fan of the 'new' NASCAR. Call me old, but I would love to see him post a good race!

Awsome Bill From Dawsinville, heck of a driver in his days and still is a pretty decent driver. Just needs the car underneath of him and he will do good.

Class act and great driver. It would be a miracle if his car finished the race though.

It's good to see Bill with a fast car again. He is a heck of a driver. I seen him race in Taladega when he set the record for qualifying, somewhere around 212 mph. The year Bobby Allison got wrapped up in the fence. It's a wonder more people were'nt hurt.
