I dont care who you side with. Who has had enough of all the insults and put downs that are all to common in every politicle thread one here? As Sportsman I feel that we should respect each other enough to be able to debate politics without all the insults. Who thinks that its possible to have civil debates about Politics on KentuckyHunting with out all the BS and insults? Insults and put downs are not going to change anyones views so whats the point?"

Conservatives have been slapped down by socialists and the media for so long we have forgotten how to fight back. Being a nice guy while you are being bent over will get you....bent over. The gloves are off for my part. Seems to be the common denominator on Conservative talk radio also.
Does that make me a bad person since I'm willing to come out swinging rather than sit back and do the politically correct thing? I could care less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my country too and I'll be damned if the socialists and communists are going to get it without a fight to the death.

Riddle me this Batman. Where has the civility been for the last eight years? It's really kinda funny that NOW words like civility and niceness is being thrown around here and elsewhere (esp. on the national level) when for the last eight years the left has been spewing the most hateful and venomous rhetoric about Bush and the Republicans in general. If there is strong words being thrown around it is because folks have been taking notes from the Left.

He is not talking about what "everyone else" is doing, he is talking about the people on this site. People that are a little better than the low-down talk that is seen on TV and radio. I used to be one of the worst at putting down Bush and the republicans, but not anymore. I still don't like Bush, but the name calling and slander has stopped from my end. I can speak my mind about what I don't like without being rude or insulting.

I made this post a few minutes ago on another thread, but it seems appropriate here also:
Ya'know ... 8 - 12 years ago, this used to be a really good forum. A lot of really intelligent and dedicated individuals used to use this site as a means of keeping the sportsmen of KY united and on point against our common foes.
There was lively and sometimes heated debate, but the participants were informed, knowledgeable and articulate ... now ... not so much.
Its a real shame to know what it was ... only to see what it has become. This site has now devolved to its lowest common denominator.
It doesn't speak well of any of us.
Back then we united against a common foe ... the KDFWR ... and IMHO, this site was used for its highest and best use ... keeping the sportsmen of KY "informed" about the issues facing them, and mobilizing their talents when necessary.
Now it has been corrupted into a place to spread misinformation and insults, and I will plead guilty to losing my composure on occasion to express my displeasure with the lack of quality in the discussions, but that doesn't make it right or add value.
Unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that this forum simply no longer has the quality of participants to make it worth while for many, myself included, to find much of value here any more. Obviously, there are a few remaining remnants of those who can add information and value to a discussion, but they are few and dwindling.

I quoted you not to point you out specifically, but rather as a example of what's occurring on the national level. It was those who were so critical with hate filled rhetoric about a Commander-In-Chief during a time of war that have set the tone in today's political discourse. One could say that the chickens have come home to roost.

The only place this happens is in the community forum. If you don't like debating politics, just stay out of the political threads. Thats what I do. What is the old saying about "never discussing religion or politics". You bring up these two topics and you are lighting a fuse. Thats just the way it is and the way it has been for as long as there have been politics and religion.
Grouseguy, I need to make a point about your comment. I was not here 8-12 years ago so I cannot speek to the way things were but I have seen other forums that have had the same sort of issues. Pat Lefamine who runs a bowhunting forum did some research on this and pointed out some interesting generalities about human nature. In general negative emotions are more powerful than positive emotions. For example. Say you take your family to the lake. You spend the entire day on the lake the weather is spectacular, the fishing is great, your kids behave like little angels everything is better than perfect. Everyone has had a great time, this is the best vacation day you can ever remember. You get back to the dock, go to get your truck and someone has slashed one of your tires. Chances are you will forget how nice the day was. Forever when you think of that day you will fixate on the fact that someone slashed one of your tires.
Apply that to this forum. There is tons of valuable information on this site. There are hundreds of helpfull people just waiting to be tapped for information and who are more than happy to help you out. Usually once a day when I am reading this site I laugh out loud from someones funny comment. At the same time I have seen people be downright rude and mean to each other. I don't know why people feel the need to be that way, but some are. I am not going to let those people and those isolated incidents ruin my "day at the lake" so to speak. There is just too much good to be taken from this site to let a few isolated incidents/individuals spoil it for me. I try to carry this attitude into my everyday life. Life is much to short to fixate on the negative, brush that junk aside and get back to the business of enjoying what you can.

I made my choice to stop with the slander well before Obama got elected. It didn't take a turn of the political tide, but an understanding on my part to stop with the senseless slander. Do I like Bush or what the republicans do, heck no, but I know that there are other ways to voice my opinion. You mention the slander given to the former commander in chief, but this site is filled with far more slams on the "DemoCRAPS" as they are so lovingly called than slams on the Bush administration. There is not an even playing field on this site at least.

Like someone said, if you can't take it, just don't wade in. And if you do wade in and don't like someone's response to your post, don't respond back.
Remember, its better to stay quiet and let someone think you're an idiot, than it is to speak and prove it.

You know this from experience? :D
I have never seen the show.
I don't really see any problems here. There's a big difference between what is said on the screen and what happens in real life. I can name more than a couple of people I've had harsh words with on screen, but I have total respect for them as people and consider them friends. Just because we disagree on politics, it's a non-factor when it comes to respect and friendship.
The important part is that you need to be smart enough to know what you are getting into here. If you are a liberal, things are going to be rough at times for you. That's just the reality. That doesn't mean that this board has gone down hill, it means you are outnumbered by people with opposing views. I would not expect to go onto Code Pink or Move On.org site and expect people to be civil to me and be considerate of my views.
It seems to me, as with all arguments, people get nasty as a last resort. When people start to lose a debate or cannot convince others they are right, that's when the insults come into play. That's a surefire sign that someone has lost the battle, when they start getting personal. The more people understand that, on either side, the smoother things will be.
Politics is a funny thing. You have to be able to take it if you can dish it out. Some people have been dishing for so long that they have forgotten how to take it. As Clint said, you can't spit venom for 8 years and then expect everyone else to "play nice" when the table turns. After 8 years of constant bickering from the media and liberals about Bush, I fully intend to make my opinion known every chance I get while democrats run the show. I will not "come together" with anyone who has tearing us apart for the past 8 years. If that somehow makes me less of a member here, or unintelligent, then so be it.

grouseguy is right that the board has changed though. Doesn't mean it's for the worse. It used to be a main communication stream for the LKS but not anymore. I'm glad of that myself. Nothing caused more fights and bitter feelings than the LKS forums. 8 or 9 years ago there weren't as many web sites out there dedicated to hunting either. Now try googling hunting forum and see what you get. It's now more about hunters getting together in cyberspace with others who share common interests. I think some people are disappointed that the fighting has been pretty much confined to political threads. You can tell who they are because 99% of their posts are trying to start crap or they just post to disagree with someone.

That's a pretty accurate assessment. I agree that the LKS period was probably where this site started seriously dividing and becoming excessively disrespectful. It started out as a division over wildlife politics and then just devolved into a division over politics in general.
However, I was was thinking back even farther ... the old CyberHunters days. Now that was a group that really made a difference and started from scratch RIGHT HERE. CyberHunters was also made up of some very fine and intelligent gentlemen with only a small remnant of their membership still active on KentuckyHunting.net. It is the loss of those gentlemen, that in my estimation has really lead to the deterioration of this site.
I guess I don't know what you guys keep eluding to when you speak of the "great members" and "intelligent gentlemen" of the past. What did these guys specifically bring to this site that was so special? Maybe I'm just reading into this too much, but I'm making a connection here between the timeline of greatness with the terms of different administrations.

raktrakr is one of those "remnants" I spoke of, and he's spot on.
You see, that's the difference here, between then and now. There was a lot of INFORMATION passed back and forth that many of us would have never known of if not for those gentlemen bringing back the information and posting it for every sportsmen with an internet hook-up to see. Information that you would NEVER see posted for public consumption by the KDFWR.
Now we see mostly the posting of MISINFORMATION, and political BS, and NONE of it is first hand. I don't mind folks having a different position on issues, that's the American way. It's the ones who don't even take the time to verify what they post, and even defend lies when they are exposed for what they are.

I'm not really sure you could call anyone posting on here "liberal" in the sense that folks in the Northeast or California are "liberal"... I think those folks would view us all as as a bunch of neanderthals. I didn't vote for Pres. Obama but don't think that everyone that voted for the guy is automatically a Commie. I don't know why they voted for him but don't think a person can be pigeonholed with one vote.
When it comes to politics lately I've begun to think that the political insiders are a separate class from the rest of us no matter which side of the aisle they are on. Who do you think Mitch McConnell would be more comfortable having dinner with - one of us, or Nancy Pelosi? They are a privileged class all to themselves.
I've begun to think that a lot of the "conservative vs. liberal" stuff is just smoke and mirrors to manipulate us into re-electing the same old crowd time and time again.

I am just blown away at the blind eye given to Obama I don't care how for into this he is. I have wanted to meet so many people on this site but there are others that I would rather be kicked in the Jimmy before I exchanged pleasantries.

It is like this XI. I view someone as an enemy that is set out to destroy the thing that I believe to be sacred. What about this do you people not understand. I hate abortion it is murder, plan and simple. I hate someone who is hell bent on stripping me of my freedoms, first and foremost my right to bear arms ( and you can preach that common sense crap till your blue in the face I'm not buying). I want to keep the money that I bust my butt to make. I am sick and tired of working my butt off to support the lazy let them starve. I for one want the people that want to kill me killed first and if the United States Military has to hold a few heads underwater to get info that could save thousands of lives I will supply the water. The more I see this, the more disturbing it becomes to me. I may not have the Republican "stamp", but I am far from your enemy. You are going to HATE someone for disliking a president that neither of us have ever met? Or more over, HATE someone you have never met over stupid political views? I mean come on, you aren't really that full of hate are you?

Do I hate moderates? No. I just fill sorry for them. Do I hate ultra liberals and socialist pigs? Darn skippy. With every ounce of my being I hate them. I don't need a hug from another man Haves, that would be a liberal thing better suited for you. I have my wife and three children to fill that need.

Stop calling other members turds, morons, idiots and the like. You lower yourself to their level when you post stuff like that. Now if you're using those words about politicians....flame away.;)

The truth is that we are a very ugly and hateful race at times and it will always be that way. We always think we are right, especially if we have been told all of our lives that our way of life is the right way.

We've got it made in The United States in comparison to countries that are really communist or socialist. I'm not singling you out or attacking you, this was just one of the first posts I read in this thread, but it's funny to hear many Americans throw around the term "socialist" or "communist," when we are still so blessed with freedom.

Google Socialist America and see how many organizations are out there fighting to make America a socialist nation. There are also many youth socialist orginazations. It is a real eye opener to see the fight that is going on under the radar, but you want to live in your little cocoon thinking America will always be great and free with out a fight.

Hide and watch what is going down.
Obama, Hitlery, and many of the current democrap/socialist/communist leaders are disciples of Saul Alinski. Google "Rules For Radicals" and see if it doesn't read EXACTLY like the socialist platform we hear about every day. Aliski said the socialists would need to enlist the "middle class" to gain control. Once they gained control, they would then throw the middle class under the bus and the rich and middle class would be slaves to the poor and "downtrodden".
Socialism has been the goal of these people for ever, since FDR esp. Now they have an articulate mouthpiece who could lie to Jesus Christ and make it sound like the truth. We are not there right now but will be in a short time. Once the 51% of voters, who have never done anything but sit on their sorry ***** and expect Uncle Sucker to take care of them with somebody elses money, voted Obama into the office of King of the World, the slippery slope became more obvious for those of us who love what this country once stood for.
I think there is still a glimmer of hope to turn this thing around at the ballot box for Congress in 2 years. It's going to take folks starting to find out for themselves who Obama's people are, how they got here and what their plans for this country are. That info won't come from CNN,NBC or other MSM sources.
Hope and Change are picked right out of Alinski's dead commie rear end. Check it out.

Interesting dedication in the first page of this Democrat handbook.
“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history... the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.”

I have been researching long before I joined these forums on just where this nation is going in relation to the concept of socialism. It almost makes me want to throw up when I hear some of the things they want to put into action in the U.S. I think I would go crazy in a socialist-America and you better believe I will be on the front lines of the fight to take back a free-America.
I do not live in a cocoon.
Also, I'm careful about what I read online.

Anybody ever heard of Chicago Democratic Socialists Of America?

New Party Update
by Bruce Bentley
The Chicago New Party is increasely becoming a viable political organization that can make a different in Chicago politics. It is crucial for a political organization to have a solid infrastructure and visible results in its political program. The New Party has continued to solidify this base.
First, in relation to its infrastructure, the NP's membership has increased since January '95 from 225 to 440. National membership has increased from 5700 in December '95 to 7000. Currently the NP's fiscal balance is $7,000 and receives an average of $450/month is sustainer donations.
Secondly, the NP's '96 Political Program has been enormously successful with 3 of 4 endorsed candidates winning electoral primaries. All four candidates attended the NP membership meeting on April 11th to express their gratitude. Danny Davis, winner in the 7th Congressional District, invited NPers to join his Campaign Steering Committee. Patricia Martin, who won the race for Judge in 7th Subcircuit Court, explained that due to the NP she was able to network and get experienced advice from progressives like Davis. Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration. The lone loser was Willie Delgado, in the 3rd Illinois House District. Although Delgado received 45% of the vote, he lost by only 800 votes. Delgado commented that it was due to the NP volunteers that he carried the 32nd Ward. Delgado emphasized that he will remain a visible community activist in Humbolt Park. He will conduct four Immigration workshops and encouraged NP activists to get involved.
The Chicago NP will hire a second organizer and an intern, preferably Spanish speaking, to work in the 35th Ward. Upcoming events include a 70's Retro Dance Party on Friday, July 12th, and Post Labor Day Picnic on September 7th.
October 1996 Update :
Running to Win : The Key Races
New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races:
Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary).
