Me and my wife went on our honeymoon to gatlinburg a couple weeks ago, and we got a chance to go to the aquarium in gatlinburg, and went to dollwood. We also went to the comedy barn and it was very funny, but in the end you have to go the the aquarium and eat at bubba' gumps.

when you pull into town stop at a tourist desk, and they'll give you about 1000 brochures on things to do there.
i like to drive up in the mountains, walk up to clingmans dome... take a drive over to cades cove.. thats probably the best
but anything and everything you want to eat. hundreds of shops/outlets.. u name it, it's there

REnt a Cabin, Cabins USA has some great deals, that is what we done the last time. WE had a secluded place in the mountains, pool table, air hockey, SAT TV, hot tub. VEry nice and cheap compared to motels. There will be more to do and more open in April, be sure to eat at Hard Rock Cafe in Gatlinburg. The trout should be biting in the mountain streams at that time too.

Cades Cove is a must. Deer, turkey and bear galore. Might be a little slow this time of year though. Me and my wife had out honeymoon there back in May 08, we went to the Aquarium, it was ok, was not that impressed, but the shark stuff was pretty cool. We styaed at The Inn at Christmas Place, man was it nice but its probaly one of the most expensive places, nicest as well, in that area. But if you like CHristmas, its the place to go. CHristmas 365 days a year, my wife loved it. Dollywood is pretty good as well, little pricey though. The BullFish is a nice restuarant to eat. Spend a day walking the strip in Gatlinburg, its nice for a little shopping, or window shopping. They have about everything a person doesnt need. Watch out for the "coupon" people who stand out on the strip, they will aggravate the snot out of ya. Oh, Smokey Mountain Knife Works is a must.

HAHA, that was my thoughts exactly Ryan.
If you want to get away from the all the run of the mill shops, candles and collectibles, go up to the artists area, all are local artists, sculpters etc and you get authentic ART, not stuff you can get at any strip shop area.

Don't forget to buy one of those rubber tomahawks with the red feather when you go, seems like I got about a dozen of those from relatives as souvinears when I was growing up.:D
Forget about the sticker shock and go to the Dixie Stampede. I about flipped when my wife told me how much our tickets cost, but it was well worth it! I don't know if you are into golf or not but the public course in Gatlinburg is one of the better courses that I have played.
Highbow, I will not go into details about our stay with Cabins USA. All that I will say is that we will never stay with them again. As a matter of fact, after a call to the better business bereau, we got a full refund for our horrific experience.

If you're adventurous, try some of the bungy slingshots and things only not if it's cold cause you'll share each others snot. Try to run your hubby off the track in a go cart and then come back here and brag to us about it! YOu must eat breakfast at a Log Cabin rest., the one in Gatlinburg is real good. The line moves faster than you think also. Bubba GUmp's was a good suggestion, pretty cool and good also. For lunch make sure you check out Bennett's and Corky's for good barbeque. Eating at Huck Finn's in Pigeon Forge is pretty cool if you like country fixin's. All you can eat white and pinto beans, cole slaw and hush puppies to go along with whichever main entree you choose. Weekends has live music also. Dixie Stampede is pretty cool also, but pricy, worth it once or twice though. I guess all I do downthere is eat and drive out to Cade's Cove which is pretty cool also.
Here's a little tip on travel. If you are going to arrive through Pigeon Forge between 12:00 and 5:00 in the afternooon you'll be doing a lot of stop and go even with the bypass. If you don't mind taking a pleasant drive, go on past the 640 cutoff and get off I-75 at Maryville. Smoky Mt. signs are there and easy to see. You'll be coming in from Townsend side and it only has 19 miles of curvy road but man is it beautiful!
Ya'll be safe and have a good trip!

Dixie Stampede is good. Take an afternoon drive out the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail starting in Gatlinburg. Drive out to Cades Cove. Stop along the way and walk down to the mountain stream and hang out a while by the water, catch a trout if you feel like buying a 1- or 3- day license. Try to skip the tourist traps and spend some of that cash on gas for some really beautiful scenic drives.

Dixie Stampede is excellent. There is also a very good restaraunt at the bottom of Ski Mountain Rd, in Gatlinbrug. If you want to trout fish, try Abrams Creek in cades Cove, the Occonuluftee on 441 as you are going into NC or West prong of the Little Pigeon River.
I am not sure if they do it in March or not, but if you have never been to Cherokee to see the outdoor drama "Unto these hills" it is great. It is the story of the Cherokee in the mountains and there removal to oklahoma on the Trail of Tears.
Cades Cove is a must see and they are now doing bus tours where they teach you about the history of the area.
Do me a favor while you are there, make a trip to Townsend to the Little River Outfitters fly fishing shop and tell Byron and Paula that I will see them in May! :D
