Well, Christmas left me with a healthy sum to Bass Pro Shops. I was wondering if anybody had purchased a handgun there? I've heard that they are a little high as far as price goes. Are there hoops to be jumped through if I buy that gun in Clarksville with my Louisville address? I was hoping for cash to buy through Buds where I can take a little longer to pay and get a better gun because of it, but it looks like I'm stuck at Bass-Pro.

Any words of wisdom?

Johnny, you can't buy a handgun out of state. You could get around this by having the gun sent to a dealer in your state and picking it up there though. Most dealers charge for this and you will have to pay for the shipping. Figure another $40-$50 for this.---Mike Ezell

Even though you cannot buy a handgun out of state in In, Keislers does have standing offer to ship any handgun you want across the river to their Ky store for free-same exact price as listed in their In showroom except for sales tax of course. I realize that don't help you with your Bass pro gift cards. Perhaps think about the long gun or accs. you want from there?

Do you have a CC permit ? I'm pretty sure that IF you can produce said permit they will sell to a KY resident. ALL you have to do is call them and ask.

812-218-5500 then ask for the gun dept.

I looked at Cabelas which I would imagine is roughly the same. Every gun that wasn't on sale was at MSRP. Who freaking pays MSRP for anything over $100? I showed them a regular price on a rifle from a store down the road that was equal to a sale at Cabelas and the guy said he has to charge MSRP.

C.L. my Indiana permit allows me to carry in KY but I can't buy a handgun there. Don't know if it works the other way around or not. If I was bettin' I'd say not.

I don't have a CC license. I've got one more trick up my sleeve, but if it doesn't work, I'm gonna shelve this idea under the "not meant to be" section.

You could always sell/trade the gift cards for cash and use that to purchase a HG.

On a side note, BPS is a little high (or a lot) on just about everything. So, if you CAN get it somewhere else it would be in your best interest. I only go there for hard to find items.

Tom, I know about the permit deal with KY since I do the same, but when I was in there one day, I thought I heard a guy buy that lived in KY ? I may be mistaken since it was a couple yrs ago.

Ask the cashier if you can cash in the gift cards. I remember one store that would cash them out as long as the corner wasnt cut off. That was what they done when someone brought an item back without a receipt. It is worth a shot.

Why cant you buy the gun up there then have it transfered to a local dealer? All you need to do is go to your local FFL and get their info.. Then Bass pro and your dealer will exchange info and bam

IF BPS is willing to carry it to the PO to ship it. I don't think UPS will ship a handgun ?

Call 812-218-5500 ask for the gun dept, then ask for Dennis. He is the FFL up there. ;)

When I worked at the gun store we had UPS deliever our handguns from other FFL's. Handguns HAVE TO BE mailed next day no exceptions. I dont see why BPS wouldnt do that the UPS man will come by the store and pick it up.

Thanks for the advice guys, I ended up getting an M&P from Bud's after I sold an old shotgun. Price was about $150 less than at Bass Pro. Headin' up there today to buy some accessories for it...:D

(they will sell those to me won't they? ;) )

I don't, but I shipped a pistol to NJ not to long ago and the FFL told me that same thing. Has to be overnight.

sry I worded it incorrectly. You are not regulated to ship overnight but any carrier is going to make it mandatory to ship overnight and will not ship any other way.
