I would guess 150 to 160 yds. 100 gr is pretty heavy for a long shot in a 243. Thats what I deer hunt with, the 100 gr and im comfortable shooting 150 yds but anything over is just a guess.

I dropped one in its tracks at 380 yards once with my .243. I have killed several, in the 2-3 hundred yard range.

I'm having trouble understanding which you want-to impact within 1" of point of aim or max point blank range when sighted in at 100 yards? if you sight it in to be 3" high at 100 yards assuming scope 1.5" above bore line, it will be dead on at 300 and max point blank range will be about 350. If it HAS to impact within 1" to point of aim when sighted in dead on at 100 yards, I would say about 155-158 yards.

THAT had me "confused" as well......

IF it "has to " be within 1" then a 100 grain (deer bullet) wouldn't be "my first choice" as we'd then be talking varmints not deer?????

BTW we often shoot water filled jugs @ 500 yards with a .243 and handloads

 I understood what he wanted to know. Ill try to splain it, if your gun is sighted in at { 1 one } inch high @ 100 yds where will his bullet hit when it keeps falling with the originall shot at 100 yds. :D I think I might have further confused some of your mental lightweights. I say it will fall to dead center at 150 to 160 yds. What say you?:o

A 243 with a zero of 1.5in high at 100yards you would be dead on at 200yards and about 8in low at 300yards.
