never fooled with one much, had a guy who had one on a browning one time, it felt like i got smacked in the face each time i shot it. also hear that they can be devestating on ear drums in the field...

whats youre xperience? are they woth the headache?

I like the custom ones that are incorporated into the barrel. They are louder but take some punch off the report.

I greatly dislike the Browning ABolt BOSS system. They are a pain to tune and if you run out of the specific ammo you are in touble. Even a different brand but the same weight will not group a decent pattern.

I have an 1895M Marlin in .450 Marlin that is ported from the factory, muzzle blast is significant and loud but the muzzle rise is noticably less than my same gun in 45/70, recoil reduction is hard to compare between the two since they are different calibers.

I personally will not own a gun that the recoil is such that it requires a muzzle break.

I hate them. A shotgun doesn't bother me enough in hunting situations to use a muzzle break. That being said, I don't goose hunt nor turkey hunt with the big magnum shells. I would want to donkey punch a hunter in a blind if he had a ported shotgun. The muzzle blast and noise is horrible if you are next to one.
