By any chance did you check with your home owners insurance agent before you made this decision? Some companys will not insure you with wood heat. My wife used to work at FB. People that used wood heat had different rates. May cost you more for your insurance now.:(

sure did,,,,as long as it isn't the primary heat source then it will not effect the insurance,,,,now if we take out the electric furnace we would be in trouble,,,so it will stay in and hooked up,,,,that way the wood burner is not considered the primary,,

As long as your chimney installation is up to speed, the Insurance Co. should give it their blessing and you won't be punished. Stick a piece of stovepipe through the wall and you're asking for a fire and higher rates.

Some will, some won't. I have a fireplace with an insert downstairs in the den and there was a port made for a stove pipe. Allstate would not insure the home with a "Self-Supporting stove. The fireplace was ok, not a woodstove.

using black pipe right out of the stove,,3 foot section,,,triplewall pipe through the wall thimble and all the way to the top,,i have made all clearances 50% more then what they recommend,,,it was a lot of money for the setup,,,but at least i know i won't have any problems,,

Sounds like you are ahead of the game here. What kind of wood you gonna be burning?

I'm guessing he'll use "fire" wood. Just joking. Looks good Treerat. I have a fireplace upstairs. Wish it was downstairs, I'd use it more.
