Kwanzaa brings a cultural message which speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human in the fullest sense.



If this is what it means, why do we celebrate it in America????

Karenga said his goal was to "...give Blacks an alternative to the existing holiday and give Blacks an opportunity to celebrate themselves and history, rather than simply imitate the practice of the dominant society."

Started by a Black Separatist as an alternative to the "white culture" traditional Christmas celebration.


Have no need for it...or the hate that derived it.

I think the Kwaszaa movement is loosing steam. I hadn't heard that word all year until now.

I have a friend that ordered wrapping paper from a high school fund raiser. She found out later that she had accidentally picked out a Kwaanza assortment pack. She went ahead & wrapped all her Christmas presents with the stuff. It was actually pretty funny!

You said that right. Not to get off topic too much, but TV absolutely sucks anymore. If it weren't for sports, outdoor channel and SPEED I wouldn't even bother turning it on. The news is a joke. I remember back in the day when my papaw used to watch Ken Rowland do the news and it was actually news. Not the mother of a thug the police just shot talking about what a good boy he was and how he was turning his life around. That is an opinion and in my opinion, should be banned from the news. Opinions are not news.
