I have been wanting one for a while and since i quit my old job and started a new one im getting some money back from the retirement they paid in. Im going to pay off a few bills and bot going to have so much cut out of my check for other things, all in all im saving about $1150 a month. So im pretty set on going and getting me a Jeep Wrangler and was wondering if anyone had any pics of some I could look at and if there are anything i should go ahead and have put on it when i buy that i might not think of.

www.jeepsunlimited.com is pretty much the gold standard. Also check out www.jeepforum.com/forum. Tons of pics and tech stuff. As for add-ons, all you'd really need is 2" lift, wheels and tires, maybe an ARB bull bar front and rear and a winch if that's in your budget. You might want to look at a mechanical or air locker and upgrading the axles if you plan on doing any serious wheeling. The Rubicon Wrangler has a ton of factory installed upgrades (Dana 44s, air locker etc) Good luck.

Here's a pic of mine. The picture is a litle old, it now has 37" tires, snorkle, rock corners, and a bigger lift. I love it except for the gas milage. It gets about 14MPG on it's best day. I had 5.13 gears installed, so I can't blame anyone but myself.

In my opinion stay away from the dealer addons, it's much cheaper and at least to me more rewarding to do all the aftermarket work myself. The Jk's(07 and newer will clear 33x10.5 inch tires stock, and 35x12.50 with a 2" Budget Boost(less than $150).

You can get 3 different model designations in both the 2 and 4 door version.

The X is generally the cheapest(mine is an X), comes staandard with a dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear. Can be ordered with a rear E-locker, and most any pwer option you want.

The Sahara is considered the street version, only difference in it and the X is it has painted fenders. Everything else, axles, transfer case, .... is the same.

The Rubicon is loaded up and built for the trail according to jeep. Comes with Dana 44's front and rear, E-lockers front and rear, Rock Sliders, E-Sway Bar disconnect, Beefier Transfer Case with better crawk ratio.

It really depends on your taste. I got mine completely stripped down. AC was the only option installed. I wanted it that way to build it my way from the start. I have added a lift, tires, sway bar disconnects, Air Lockers front and rear, heavier front axles, bumpers, rock sliders, and regeared for less than a RUbicon would have cost me new.

I have wheeled it hard and no major issues with 30K miles. I have driven it from Dallas tx to Boston, Ma to Charlotte, Nc in a matter of 2 weeks and it rode perfectly. Wheeld it all over NC, Harlan, Pike Co, and anywhere in between.

Good luck, check out jkowners.com and jk-forum.com for tons of info on the accessories available. If you have any questions ley me know.

Mine Is the Blue with hard top. I love my jeep. Drive it to work everyday. Has the 4 cyl. 5 spd. Not lots of power but keeps the 33x12.50's turning pretty good.

I got 2 cherokee's, a 94 and an 84. Nothing like a Jeep. Gotta give a nod to the 4.0 strait 6, they are a hoss and decent mileage.

Are you planning on using this as a primary vehicle?

I used to have an '02 Wrangler Apex (1st edition X model). I only put a few after market accessories on it. I always had plans to build it up, but then kids got in the way. But at the time, with everything I was doing in it, I never felt that I needed anything. But I sure spent a lot of time pouring over the Quadratec catalog (http://www.quadratec.com/) each time I got one. Talk about a wish book.

The one improvement I was glad I got was new tires after I wore out the factories. I got BFG All-Terrain TA's. It made a difference.

And I'll say that if I ever come into some money, I won't be getting a Ferrari, or even a Corvette, I'll be at the Jeep dealer picking out the color on my new Rubicon.

I forgot to add something, get the engine block heater option. I don't think its very expensive (mine came as part of the package). I think it would be worth almost anything on those days when it was 10 degrees outside and I had heat coming out of the vents before I got out of the driveway.

Im not going to be using as a primary vehicle although im not going to pay 20 to 30 thousand and break it down climbing and things either. Mostly im buying it for a work truck as crazy as that may sound, but my little s10 is starting to have a few problems, I will probably take it trail riding a little but nothing serious, and of course take it hunting. I would also like to keep it in good shape so that if me and my wife want to go out or go on a trip it will still look good enough to do so, if that helps any.

jaredemma, that is just about what i have been doing with my jeep i use it to go rabbit hunting and i like to get out and drive it on the trails sometimes and then i take it to the car wash and spray it off and it looks good enough to drive anywhere.
