I have an old Browning A5 and I would like to know when and where it was made. I would also like to Know about how much it's worth. Can anyone help? The only info I have is a number stamped on the reciever, 61175 with an "H" over it.

I've had mine for many years. Works and operates like a new one. Years ago I sent the serial number to BROWNING ARMS at Morgan, Utah. In a few weeks I got back the date of maufacturing which was 1953. Wouldn't take love nor money for mine. Wouldn't have any idea what an A-5 would bring in money. Based on the condition of the firearm. Sandbank Tom, Princeton, KY

According to your serial number, your A-5 is a "standard weight" model ,made in 1954-55. most likely 1955. Value depends on condition. Most any useable A-5 will bring at least $400.---Mike Ezell
