What do you guys think about Leupold rifle scopes? Been thinkin about getting one for my 300 wsm. The bad part is that i dont really have the money right now to pay double for a scope than what i paid for the gun. But im hoping to have one by next deer season. The only other thing is that my barrel is stainless so its hard to find a stainless scope in my my price range(no more than 600). But what do you guys think and are there any good Leupold models out there that you guys suggest that would be in that price range?

Being a longtime leupold fan, I would HIGHLY reccomend you choose at the very least the vx2 model line to ensure a lifetime of service. Brasskeeper is right on all except the vx1. Another thing you MAY care to think about is you've got stainless rifle, so I'm assuming you also have a black synthetic stock. A black scope sometimes looks even better than a silver finished scope, complementing the contrast. There's a WIDE selection of scopes that will perform well in (or lower) than the price range you listed. Of all the even 1/2 way affordable scopes I've ever owned, used, or looked thru, the zeiss conquest line has THE BEST optics of all. And you can get a 3x-9x-40mm zeiss conquest for about 400-450$ too!

$600 or less, Get a VX II or a VXIII. In todays economy, it just makes sense to buy American. Trust me, you won't regret buying either one.
I really like the wide duplex retical.

Spend the bucks for a Leupold VXII or III. My II is great, wish I had some III's as well.

Its not a cadillac, but the best scope I ever bought for under $175 is the Leupold VX-I that has been on my M/L for 6 years. Love it.

I have been able to pick up a couple nice used scopes on gunbroker. Might have some ring marks but that is not a big deal to me as you can cover those with your rings when you mount it on your rifle. That is where I always look as I can get alot more scope for my money than buying new.

Tony you must have got a good one. i bought a VX-1 couple months ago, it is not as clear as an old simmons i have, and the power ring takes 2 men and a boy to turn. they both suck. for the money i wish i had bought 4 simmons instead. i guess nikon will be next.

Mine is crystal clear all these years and two falls out of a tree stand later. My ring turns as easily as the VX-II I own. Or maybe the VX-II is hard to turn too and I am just used to it. ;)

I love them and would not hesitate to buy another. Mine stays on zero year end and year out. I'm talking sub MOA . I never have to sight it in before deer season. I go out and shoot 5 rounds just to make sure, but it's always dead on. I even dropped my gun HARD this year and there was very little, if any, variation in the point of aim. Don't but the cheaper one though, go for the "upper medium" priced one, you get what you pay for..

First of all leupold is just a awsome scope!!!!!!!!!!! My best hunting buddy (who has hunted in africa twice etc etc) says he has looked through and owned i believe the really really high end scopes like ziess swarski etc and he said he cant tell a difference between that a like a leupold vx2. I have one myself and woudnt trade it for anything! I like it so much I want to get a leupold scope for my shotgun and one of those new mz scopes for my mz. I personally can see more color out of my leupold then with my own 2 eyes!!!!!!!!!!!! (thats just me and dont get me wrong im not color blind.) anyway feel free to message me if you want to know anything else. You go to UK right?
