I saw on a KDWFR poster the other day there's going to be an otter season this year. Any info?

Western Ky, west of Trigg Co. Limit 5 per person, I think they have to be tagged by an officer following harvest.

310 stated west of Trigg Co. The zone also includes Trigg Co. The eastern side of the zone is Trigg, Caldwell, Crittenden up to the river and all counties to the west of these 3.

Will there be limits or a quota? Anyone know what otter pelts are bringing these days?

I don't know any other otter info at this time.

Looks like otters and bobcats are going to a Tele-chek system. Guess that'll really be effective in keeping track of the numbers....yeah right.

Multi is right. Sounds like cats and otters will be telecheck next year. This means we're about to completely loose track of their numbers because not many will check them in accurately. Otter pelts brought around $140.00 this past season. This kind of price will make it awful tempting for some to not stop at the limit of 5!!!

Even with telecheck, they will eventually have to be tagged to be sold.

If they have to be "tagged", then what is the purpose of tel/chek.??[?]

The tag is a CITES tag. Telechek is to satisfy the "when killed" requirement, because sometimes you can't get ahold of the CO by the time limit?

I think the tagging of bobcats and otters are a function and duty of the wildlife division and their staff. (wildlife biologists and their technicians)

Other department personnel, such as us in the law enforcement division, usually end up helping out in the wildlife division projects, so I guess it does become the duty of all of us. But please don't start assuming that only the officers carry out the wildlife division tasks.

I think the guide says bioloigists or CO. I think most people call the CO, as their numbers are more known.

Very true. Maybe we need to make the others more well known also.
