Accu Trigger.

What do you guys think about the accu trigger. I shoot a Savage 300 WSM with an accu trigger and i love it. What do you guys think?

The savage accu trigger,is the rifle form of glock safe-t-trigger,and is good for the guy that wants to just pull rifle ou of box,mount scope,and go shooting-not have to adjust trigger or anything. For that use,it's good. I'm not to keen on them at all because when I pull trigger,I want it to break glass smooth,and from 1.5#-2#,in a single stage-not have to pull goofy gadgets before I can pull trigger. That's just ME and my own screwy opinion however. It's too much like a 2 stage trigger to me,even tho I realize it's vastly different. Give me a good,light,crisp trigger with NO discernable movement anytime.

Shot my new Savage 12 fv .308 with it this past Sunday, yep in the wind, really liked it. I didn't check what it is set at but it was smooth. Can't wait to shoot it again.

The thing I don't like about accu-triggers is all the movement of that little flat tab in middle, However it's very to disable it by pinning it back, that way you have a good, light, smooth conventional single stage trigger. In fact, I just got done doing just that for a gentleman.

You have to compare apples to apples-NOT apples to oranges. The BEST trigger on a bolt rifle is single stage with no more movement than absolutely neccesary. The accu-trigger is goofy for use on a hunting riflr but par for the course on a savage (cheap but decent rifle meant for entry or budget level).
The para LDA trigger is the SMOOTHEST LIGHTEST DAO HANDGUN trigger meant for carry you'll find ANYWHERE. Yes,they have long reset but thet ARE DAO. Sit down and think about it for a few minutes.

Dao is great in a carry gun and in my opinion the only way to go,but as i heard you bashing Glock triggers i couldn't help but remembering the LDA.
You can't manipulate the Para trigger to even close the crispness of a Glock, can you?:rolleyes: I enjoy your posts alot but apples to apples is just that and when you take a savage out of a box its better than any trigger going on a production gun. I have never owned a savage either.

Sorry if I came accross a bit short, Been working on guns for about 12 straight hours today so my back is KILLING me. Sorry if I neglected to explain reasoning fully. The reason I like para LDA triggers so much is paras are still an 1911 platform whereas glocks have never fit my hands properly. Also, I'm slightly old fashoned and hooked on 1911 platform and the paras offer best of both worlds-extremely light smooth DAO in a 1911 platform. Now you might understand why I like them so much. With glocks, you either love them or dislike them. Personally, I've never been able to warm up to them, but they ARE GREAT guns. Now trust me-the new browning X-bolt triggers are so good, I honestly wouldn't do a thing to them save for MAYBE adjusting pull weight down a very little-again personal preference. PLEASE handle an browning X-bolt and try it's trigger, you'll be astounded.

I think this is a good statement.


The accu trigger does what it is designed to do, by-pass the lawyers with the plastic tab and then give you a decent trigger pull.

I too can not get past the plastic moving parts. I do not like the accu trigger nor the Glock's trigger because of this. If you have ever gone through formal, competition shooting you have to stop, forget everything you learned and re-learn. You learn to control breathing, relax body, slooowwwwlllly sqeeeeeeeeze trigger until it surprises you. This is a difficult thing to do with inserting, "dis-engage plastic trigger lock" half way through process.

Again, they are great for what they are designed. They are great for deer dropping rifles, good for yotes and ground hogs. One hole competition maybe, but it would require one heck of a shooter that never learned on another type trigger though. JOMO.

Well i thought long and hard about Tikka and Cz,guess i was a little biased because i never pulled the trigger on a Tikka. I didn't know it was a Timney though and still doubt that you'll pull one out of the box with a 2lber but you won't do that with an accutrigger either as 2lb is pushing it on a hunting rifle in MY OPINION.

Guess i'll now have to go with CZ having the best out of box trigger:). One thing is for sure Savage,Tikka and Cz knows how to make shooters. I've heard alot about the X-bolts too so maybe gun companies are waking up about their go switches.

now that's strong right there. I think I would have to give it to cz myself with a 6oz. trigger. Tune it down for load development on the bench, then stiffen it up for the field. It's good to see that some of these firearm co's. are finally listening to us & our needs.

That's the great thing about CZ rifles is they come standard with single set triggers. Single set triggers are perhaps the ultimate triggers to have on a centerfire rifle because they are crisp and minimal movement (read none felt), both in unset mode, and in set mode. It's actually like having 2 different triggers in 1 rifle. Once adjusted, you don't have to do anything to have an extremely light benchrest (only) weight, and a regular weight crisp trigger except push it forward to set it. I've installed canjar triggers on some of my rifles and they're absolutly fantastic triggers.The new X-bolt brownings have EXCELLENT conventional single stage triggers-they break like snapping a tiny glass rod. You guys that like your accu-triggers, just think how much nicer they would be if there was no silly tab to have to depress or no felt movement at all when you pull trigger.

While no one will ever accuse Marlins of having great triggers I did replace mine with a Wild West Guns "Happy Trigger" that is super smooth and breaks clean at 3 lbs.
As a side note, Savage must be doing something right as both Marlin (XL7) and Mossberg's new LBA trigger are clones of Savage's accutrigger.

canjar triggers are awesome.........

i don't mind the trigger on my savage though, i mean it's not a canjar but it's not bad........ you get used to the lil blade in the middle
