The tikkas are pretty average for most bolt action hunting rifles-both in weight and stock dimentions,so they produce about the same felt recoil of other rifles. Wsms supposedly produce a little less recoil as the .300 win mag does but if so,I can't tell much difference between them. I would reccomend you try somebody's .300 win mag,and if you can't handle that, forget the .300wsm and think about a lower recoiling round, after all,a 300 mag is wayyy overkill on deer. If you're going to be regularly hunting elk,it changes things a little however. Then,I would reccomend you get a good recoil pad and possibly a muzzlebreak.

Unless it's a T3 Lite....They only way 6lbs 6 oz in the wsm chamberings.:) That's about 20% less than a 700 BDL. Personally, I love the Tikka rifles but the Lites do seem to kick a bit. I also like the 300 WSM but you couldn't give me a WSSM. I'd buy the Tikka with confidence but like stalkingbear said, if the 300 win mag is too much, the wsm probably is too, regardless of the brand without a brake.---Mike Ezell
