I'm just curious as to how many of you have your CCW (or carry even though you don't) and why. I read where one guy says that he carries because he can. What's you're reason?

Nope, just a knife. I've thought about it a few times but I'm pretty good with the knife. It's gotten me out of more than one jam.

I don't carry a lot even though I am permitted. I will say I'm not far from a carry piece when at home, my truck or at my taxidermy studio. I will always carry when I'm going to be in a place that I don't feel comfortable in.

I have stocked up on guns and ammo recently because I can and because Obama will probably soon say I can't.

I have my permit, but don't carry everyday. I am in and out of the county courhouse and schools about everyday and do not want the hassle of having to degun a half dozen times aday. I do carry when I am traveling or leave home. One reason I got my permit is like with the high capacity mags, AR, and ammo now, if you don't have it now, you may not be able to get it in the future.

I'm licensed and carry where permitted. I think if I do not exercise my rights that losing them will be easier. I practice at the range and while there hopefully will never be a need to defend myself I will be ready.

I carry a weasel in a Wal-mart bag with me wherever I go.

If confronted, my plan is to shake up the bag, get the weasel good and riled, then throw it at my attackers and escape in the confusion. So far no one has messed with me, though.

I work in downtown Atlanta. If I didn't carry I'd be the only one unarmed!

I carry everywhere it is legal. I figure an emergency situation could happen anywhere so it's best to be prepared. One of my favorite sayings is "when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away".

Sounds like a fool proof plan...do you need a permit for that or it is perfectly legal?:D

I carry everywhere its legal for me too. I'd rather have it and not ever need it than be in that one situation where I wished I would have had it but didn't

I have my permit but I've never carried. It's nice to know that if I ever feel the need to I can though. The only reason I got my permit was because my cousin wanted hers and didn't want to go by herself so I went along with her. I hadn't even shot a handgun before I went so I learned a lot.

I'd hate to live the rest of my life wishing I had been armed when something happened to me or my family and I couldn't defend them.

Everywhere I go except schools and government buildings.

Once me and a buddy got the cops called on us at waffle house because the guy in the booth behind us caught a peak of my gun. The cop got there and was really cool and 100% on our side. The manager tried to tell us they had a sign on the door. I told them they didn't (which they didn't). The cop told me to carry in there if they didn't have a sign. He told me to carry everywhere. He said even if a place has a sign on the door, its just a ticket for carrying in there. He said that cops need as many civilians protecting themselves as they can. He showed us his gun, we showed him ours. We swapped ammo likes/dislikes. Reviewed some guns we had experience with. He was very knowledgeable and nice. Best experience I have ever had with a police officer.

I carry 24/7/365 may never need it but its better to be ready if the need arrises. Kinda like buying life insurance, you dont want to use it but its handy(for the family) when the time comes.

My wife is originally from Jenkins. We go there to visit a few times a year. I always take a gun with me. Anytime I drive over an hour or so, I put the S&W in the glovebox. I have never once regretted taking it with me. I don't want to end up in a situation where I wish I had packed my gun. You never know when you might need it.

Take it from a guy who knows from experience. The situation where you need to defend your life with a firearm will most likely be when you least expect it and it will be over in a matter of seconds. I didn't even know that my assailant was even there until he shot me. Luckily for me he had a Jennings 32acp and it jammed after the first shot which hit me in the upper torso. I drew my weapon and shot him by pure instinct. I didn't even think about it, I just reacted. I didn't even realize that I was hit until the police arrived and told me I was bleeding. If you have a permit, I urge you to carry it whenever you can. You never know when or where it will happen.

Not yet! I took my CCDW class last month and am waiting on the paper work to go through! After that I plan on packing some. Just to unfamiliar places, rough parts of town, in the car/truck,4-wheeler riding, hunting, and such! I've had a gun pulled on me twice while 4-wheeler rideing cause we took a wrong turn and wound up on a neighboring farm where we wasn't welcome. Would have loved to have been able to protect myself if need be! That was when I was young, like 13-14 it wasa must uncalled for! What if it happened now?

I carry as well. Not all the time, but often. I used to carry 100% of the time, but have gotten complacent.

Carried with a CCW permit from ages 21 to 24.

I don't bother with a permit anymore...I just carry it whereever and whenever I want. Doesn't matter what city, county, or state I'm in, I've got a gun.

Oh, and I don't "need" a permit...I've got a cool little badge and ID that allows me to do it.

Without going into too much detail, having my .45 prevented an attempted carjacking & later an attempted robbery while I was putting gas in my vehicle. Always, always keep your eyes open!

I carry a handgun only because my rifle is too big to pack under my shirt! ;)
I also keep a compact rifle in my vehicle or in a discreet case (tennis racket cases work good) if I need to pack it on my person for some reason. I also carry a small Surefire flashlight. However, the best equipment anybody can carry is sitting on top of their shoulders. Situational awareness is the best defense that you have.
