assuming they are closing the park until June 2009?
Maybe the governor's wife and Mongiardo can buy it for their Adventure Tourism brain-child and open it up so atv's can chase horse back trail riders around.

Something that was never satisfactorily explained to me is why the City of Louisville (in Jefferson County) has a city park in another county. I understand the land was donated, but even in a surplus budget year this doesn't make sense.

Jerry Abramson has never liked the Park as a part of City of Louisville. My bet is that the park will be remain closed even after the Budget Crisis as passed.
The Park was donated to the City of Louisville in the 1940's and cannot be sold to private investors. The only way is to transfer/sell to another government organization such as Department of Interior, State of Kentucky, Meade County, Fort Knox, ect.
I love the Park. Started going to Otter Creek in the 1960's at Cedar Hill then to Camp Piomingo as a camper, then worked as a counselor. My parents would let my brother and I attend camp all summer. We would show up first week in June and go back home eight weeks later. Actually had a job for the park while attending college in the 1970's. My son attended camp and we fish, camp, hike, and mountain bike at the park today. It will be ashame to loose such a wonderful place, but I think that is what will happen.

They should turn it into a WMA and sell permits to raise money while it is closed.

Meade County has no parks and recreation dept. I want to know can we go get our trout back that KDFWR stocked in there in October?:)

The park will be closed December 14.
Maybe Ft. Knox will be interested in it. Maybe it could be another conservation camp for the KDFWR?

I know from first hand that the idea of another Government Department "taking" Otter Creek has been proposed to Kentucky State Parks, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Meade County, Fort Knox and even the National Parks for many years, no interest from any of these organizations.

If I hit Powerball tomorrow I may buy it! That lodge looks like it could be converted to some nice living quarters!:D
