I was told that they make a Mag conversion kit for the Mini-14 so that you can use "AR" mag's. Does anybody know about that or where to find a kit?

From what I've seen, time, aggravation, machine work and sweat wouldn't be worth it.

There use to be a plastic mag that advertised working in both, but it didn't work well on the AR platform, and, they cost about the price of a Mini 14 mag, so whats the point.

If there is something out there, I'm sure it would be all the rage and not so difficult to find info on.

If you're absolutely determined to use AR mags in your mini 14,it is possible and fairly simple to convert them. The main difference is the mag lock/release location. Again,i would strongly suggest you purchase mini 14 mags while they're still available and at reasonable prices.

If it was me i'd just go here http://www.ruger-firearms.com/ and order as many as possible before Jan. 31. $29.95 is a heck of a deal on Ruger magazines. Pretty sure you will have to be patient on them though

Or you could try one of these:

http://palmettostatearmory.com/mini14.php

http://www.cdnninvestments.com/mi230clsmmag.html

Both have great prices on mags and ammo. I have not ordered from Palmetto, so I can't speak for them, but I did just buy a bunch of mags for my BAR from CDNN and they were very quick and the mags are perfect OEM equipment at a great discount.

This is a piggyback Mini Question. How do you remove the gas blocks on the new minis? The bolts are staked in which is ridiculous! My old one comes right off. I want to install an adjustable one. Pro mag makes good mini 14 mags that work! Get them now before Osama Obama gets in!
