Thinking about changing from dishnetwork to directv. What pkg has the most hunting and fishing channels in it, without breaking the bank?

couldn't tell you what package I have, but I do know that the worthless SOBs did away with one of the hunting channels a couple weeks ago. MAN (611)I think. I sent them an email to see if they were going to replace it with another outdoors related channel and they said no.

All I can tell you is read the fine print. You are agreeing to a two year contract whether they tell you that or not. We went several rounds with DirectTV over that and some other nonsense that they wouldn't budge on. Finally we just paid the money after about 8-9 months of fighting 'em and vowed to never, ever, ever deal with the evil SOB's again. Your choice.

just get you a free air box off the internet and don't pay anyone... it's not like fixing cards and all that stuff. you can legally buy the boxes online and it will pick up all the dish network channels available for free.. the box may need updating once every 6 months or so, and you can do that via a usb port and the internet

the signal is out there for anyone to use.... i don't think the sell of the boxes would be legal if there wasn't a loop hole somewhere

It's not there for anyone to use. NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, CNN, etc, ALL have their own signals and you can't just use one.
As for the boxes selling on the net, you can buy "deer corn" on bags at all the Wal-Marts in the state of Tennessee but batting is outlawed for hunting in Tennessee.
Just because someone sells something does not mean it's always legal.

THose boxes are also called "pirate boxes". There are several US laws that cover the signals and several more international laws. You can do a search online and they will come up. If someone is caught not only does he face a fine and jail under the law but he will get sued by the signal owner.

I had direct tv for over a year signed up for it in July 2007 this was a one year contract, I just recently cancelled it and they took the cancelation fees out of my bank account with out my approval. When I call direct to tell them I was cancelling them they told me I signed 2 year contract with them in Feb.2008 which I did not and I tried to explain this to them and they would not budge. I then asked to get a copy of said contract with my siganture on it and they told me oh well there is no signed contract that it was implied . I then told the lady well I ain't paying you no fees then she told me oh you don't have to we are going to take them out of your bank account no matter what I then told her you better not and that I do not give you any authorization to take these fees, well a week later they took almost $500 from my bank account ,I called my bank to dispute these charges but my bank told me that if I gave them my account info then they can take these fees out with out my approval how legal is this I do not know . I filed a dispute anyway and if I do not win this dispute I plan on closing my bank account out and finding me another bank. This week I got another 380 some dollar bill from direct tv saying I did not return there equipment, I did return there equipment fed ex came out and picked it up .

That's exactly what I was talking about earlier, model700. When we had trouble with them, I researched it a LOT on the web and it seems to be very common practice with them to "imply" a 2 year contract, even if it's never mentioned... then stick it to ya if they get a chance. Apparently that's just part of their business plan. You won't get any of that money back, I promise you, according to almost every account I ran across of people having issues just like ours. I'll never even consider DirecTV again.
Far as the Free To Air boxes and "cheated" cards are concerned... I have friends at work that use them and get everything for free. I have a problem with it though. To me, it's no different from baggin' a turkey out of season because they're "out there for the taking" and on my property. Do as you please though... I know you will anyway.
Whether they can "get you" or not, it just ain't ethical.

I have had Dish Network a few times and they have always been good to me. They gave me Cinemax for 1 penny a month for 6 months one time. It was part of some deal they were handing out. I didnt even qualify but the girl gave it to me anyway. The only problem is if you want the MLB or NFL package there is only one game in town and that is Direct TV.
Thanks for the info, doesn't sound like directv is any better than what I have now in dishnetwork.

That is true on college b-ball. I have a buddy who just changed from dish to direct, he told he wished he had never changed. I figure it's six of one and a half dozen of the other.;)
