the friend i was wanting to help get a 700 told me to find him a quality rifle, only cheaper...... haha..... i started doin some research and came across the marlin xl7 in 30-06....

blue barrel, synthetic stock, pillar bedding, adjustable trigger, great looking action, fluted bolt... for $280

i did some research on how the gun shot, everyone i could find that had experience with the gun said typical groups at 100 yards were around 1"..

for 280 bucks I don't think you could go wrong! a lot of good things for a cheap gun!

Gander Mountain in Bowling Green has them for $319. Bud's gun shop up in Paris had them for $281 last time I checked there.

well i've never seen them anywhere near the price range of 399
