A few months ago I took my CCDW class. The next weekend I went to Whittakers to pick up my first semi-auto. I knew when I went I wanted a small framed 1911 in full stainless with wood grips. Well this is what I come back with.

A Dan Wesson Bobtail Classic. Since then I have shot about 50 rounds though it. It balances in the hand very well. Shoots straiter than I can. Recoil isn't bad at all. Goes Boom every time. Has never jammed. Is easily concealed. And I love it. The only flaw I have found is it is terrably loud, don't want to shoot or be around it without ear plugs. As you can see it come with an extra magazine and a nice carrying case. Also come with a gun lock. It was a little pricy at $850 but it is well worth it.

Nice lookin' pistol. I think you made a good choice. 1911 pistols are like the Chevy 350 of handguns. You can buy so many after market parts for them and customize them to your liking.

Nice pistol!!! I went with the Kimber Ultra Carry II Stainless, sweet little 1911 and it has never done me wrong. I have about 850 rounds through it great CC gun!

I looked at both the Springfield and the Kimber. Both were a little small for my hand especialy to be shooting a .45. The Kimber was out of my Price range too. Not dissing your guns but the salesman at Whitaker garanteed me that the Dan Wesson would out shoot either one too. But it does have a longer barrel at 4"s.

Nice looking pistol. Is it a Commander size gun? I like my Kimber ProCarry.

Dan Wesson (now owned by CZ) has always made nice guns. I have no experience with their 1911's but they are based on the tried and true 70 series. I've had 2 Dan Wesson .22 revolvers and should have kept them (my policy that I instituted a few years ago, don't buy crap guns, and don't get rid of any guns, which reminds me, I'm due for a bigger safe lol).

Think you made a good choice.

Not shure? I think the Commander is a bit bigger. I think it is a 5" barrel.

No, 5" is the full size Colt. That right there does look like a Commander-size gun.

I love my Norinco! It shoots just about everything including 252 grain semi wad cutters which I cast myself. I paid $229 14 years ago
