Remington 597

Believe it or not but I saw some at Wal-Mart in Lexington about a month ago. I was shocked to say the least. Better get them soon because I am sure Obama and the Dems will be quick to re-instate the High Capacity magazine/Assault Weapon ban with in the first couple of months of office.:mad:

i just saw them at Cabelas.....the 30 rd banana for $19.99. I bought the pair of 10 rd clips for 17.99....how do you like your gun I just bought it this past weekend. I got it on sale and it seems like a pretty nice gun. I shot probably 150 rounds through it and its prettty darn accurate. Anyone got any feedback on it? I have heard some negatives about it, but i wonder if thats just because people are so used to shooting Ruger...idk....im hoping its a good purchase.

I have a ruger 10/22 and I have a remingtion 597.
The Ruger has and advantage in after market upgrades.

The 597 has the accuracy of an upgraded 10/22.
It has twin guide rails on the bolt which is an upgrade I've seen people doing with their 10/22 now.

The 597 was getting a bad rap for feeding issues. It was a problem with the magazines that has been fixed. I believe they are on their third generation magazine with the 597 and they no longer have the jamming issue.

I believe the 597 is a better rifle and is very accurate out of the box.

The 597 is a great little gun, especially for the price.
