I'm new to duck hunting and want to go this weekend and next week a few days. I was thinking about the Sloughs or Green River WMA or I could float the Ohio River in my boat. What would you guys recommend???

I'm not sure about Green or Sloughs but floating the OH this time of year would be tough. Where I hunt there is not alot of cover on the shore line unless it is up. The birds have been seeing and been chased by boats by now and get pretty spooky. Your best bet would be setting up somewhere with decoys.
I have always heard the Sloughs is a good place when the birds are here but just haven't ever made it. I have also heard it gets pretty crowded on the weekends.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.

If the nights are in the teens like they're calling for this weekend, the Sloughs will be iced over. This week everything seemed to be frozen except the deeper holes, and access was limited due to high water. Sloughs is definitely crowded on the weekends, but during the week the hunting should be good if you can find open water.
I've never hunted the Green River WMA, so can't help there. Big water will be the ticket once everything freezes, but like Cockbird said you've got to find cover on the Ohio.

You guys hunting the Ohio river, be careful and think.
Don't forget that your out there with barges. Be extremely careful crossing river in the fog, you can't hear barges with the engines in the back.Good Luck.

Two of went to Henderson Friday and Saturday and never got a shot. We broke ice and it would freeze right back up. Doesn't look like too many ducks or long necks there yet. We ended up in Arkansas in time to hunt Sunday morning. We had 4 limits of mallards by 10:00. Ended up hunting there 3 days and had 32 total, not including a snow goose, that made a bad low belly mistake. I killed my first pin tail drake also. Thanks for the help.

multi---what part of Arkansas did you go to? was it on private property or public land? I went to Cash, last year on a snow goose hunt. I have been wanting to get back do there and hunt some ducks.

pwillis4, I'm in on a lease along the Cache River about two miles south from the town of Cash. I'll be down there this weekend and I'll try and post up the results when I get back. If we do good this weekend, I'm gonna stay 'til next Thursday.

I hunt out of St. Charles on the White River W.M.A., with a local guide that is outstanding. We paid to hunt one day and he let us use his rice field blind the other two days. The W.M.A. is flooded timber right now. Lots of ducks, although some of the other guides wern't doing as good as Kelly did for us. Anyone wants to go, I could give you his number. He'll show you a good hunt foir sure. He charges a $100 a day, but it's usally a morning hunt only. But most of the times I've been with him, you'll have more ducks than the rice field guides.
