I was wanting to get s feel for what everyone thought about the NWTF. I have been thinking about joining for a couple of years now but just have not done it. What are the pros and cons of this organization?

A bad day hunting is better than a good day at work.

Yes, the NWTF is worthy of your support. Without them you wouldn't have any turkeys to hunt today. While some may not agree with everything they do it is a very worthy organization to be associated with. They give back money to the local level, scholarships, seed conservation, & support 4-H to name a few. If you want more info., PM Schuyler.

The NWTF along with the USFWS are the reasons you have an opportunity to hunt turkeys. Here is a bit of info from a newsletter I got from my chapter -- the Pennyrile Stutters.
--number of turkeys harvested in Ky in 1993 =5177
--number of turkeys harvested in 2003 =28223
--current turkey pop. in Ky =over 200000
--number of turkey hunters =over 80000
--amount given in Ky in scholarships in 2002 =$43000
--most money give in support of 4-h shooting sports =$27500
--Ky NWTF contributed $22500 to the new "Archery in the Schools Program"

This only a few statistics that I have given and they are only for Ky. One can only imagine the national statistics of the NWTF.

At the top of the letter it reads: "The NWTF is the only conservation organization with 'hunting' in its mission statement. We are proud of the fact that the majority of our members are hunters and our mission statement addresses hunting!"

Nobody can deny that the NWTF had a major role in bringing back the wild turkey population.
