Does anyone else have trouble falling to sleep the night before opening day? I do every year, and depending on how the season, often more than once. What does everyone do to ensure a good nights rest? Theres been many nights I'm up till 1 or 2 in the morning because I can't make myself fall asleep...all I can do is think about hunting the next morning.[:(]

I have the same problem. I can't do anything but lay there and think about packing that ole boss tom home with me. If you find a good remedy, please let me know!
A bad day hunting is better than a good day at work.

The only cure is likely death. I've never slept good the night before any opener.

dont have to worry about it, i'll be at work till 2am, probaly just stay up and sleep good and long the next night.
Usually toss and turn till about 2 or 3 then get up for fear of not waking up when the alarm goes off.then i sleep good the rest of the season.

A couple Makers & 7..........
No more than two, or a healthy shot of nyquil. However, neither are full proof though, as I can never get to sleep on the eve.

Thats a good idea Beyer, never thought of that. I have tried all the sleeping pills, pain pills, basically anything that might help me get some rest...never found anything that worked. Theres nothing worse that laying in bed trying to get some rest and turning over and looking at the clock and its 2 in the morning!!

Just concentrate on your plans for killing that tom. Replay in your mind step by step all the mistakes and successes you have had in the past. Then think of how your going to set up on your bird. How quiet your going to be, how much time you will leave yourself to sneak in the woods. Think about getting out there at black dark and sneak like a snake. Proper planning and scouting can give you success right at flydown time.
A buddy of mine always thinks about a turkey out there sitting on a limb life is about to end the following morning.
A non-hunting friend of mine was watching the Hunters Journal and said he saw two turkeys doing there turkey thing and the blamo, they were convulsing on the ground. He thought about it and felt kind of bad for a second and then burped a little of the tasty chicken he just ate, and thought to himself...you know the bird I just ate probably never felt the breeze or saw the sunshine!
