Henned up is almost a normal occurrence for the early season. If I could only hunt one week it would be the last week of the season. The Ohio boys that pushed so hard for an earlier season up there may wish they hadn't pushed so hard. The best Ohio hunting is almost always the last few days. Since I'm lucky enough to be able to hunt KY and OH I was sorry to see OH opening so early in 2005. Oh well.

As for the foilage where I'm at the right now, the palm trees are about the same as always[:D].

Looking pretty green around here down low and torward the sky. I notice alot of new growth each week at the farm.

I'm seeing several hens out solo--and yesterday had 4 toms on one hen. Tells me it's not early, but on time. Should be a good spring.

I'm also seeing some hens off solo. While there will be some henned up gobblers, there will also be those 2-3 year old birds that have been run off, and are looking for company. That's the ones i'm looking for. The other morning in Tn. I was set up on a bird, that had hens with him at fly down. At the same time I heard another bird gobbling non stop on the next ridge, even though the first bird was gobbling at every call, I left him and made the hike to the second. A few miniutes later this lone bird was making the ride back to Ky.
