I have a friend who's borrowed my rifle the past two seasons. He's interested in getting his own rifle and I did some looking and found the 700 sps.

Anyone have any experience with this model? I know it's the proven 700 action, just kinda checking around to see what you guys thought about them.. looks like you can pick them up under 500

The one I handeled was a little rough through the action compaired to some but with a little breaking in and a good oiling it might be better. Like you said the 700 line is a proven shooter!

Remington 700 = GREAT Rifle. However, I wouldn't want anything with the buckmaster logo on it. Just my opinion.

ohhh great, and i just signed up for buckmasters again..... figured that was better than givin money to some left wing organization

some flitz on that action should slick it right up though, you can take a rough action and cycle it with flitz over and over and make it work like you wouldn't beleive

Well, I used to be a buckmasters member like 20 years ago and it wasn't bad then. But now, if you are a member, you get all these calls to buy stupid stuff like vaccum cleaners and non hunting stuff. Seems they've also taken a page from the north american hunting club and started sending members books and videos unsolicited and billing you for them, again just like nahc. And as for Jackie Bushman, he's just a tool! I mean come on do you really want to be footing the bill for this guys hunts? Not me. It's just my opinion, but I can't stand them.

Buckmasters called and harrassed me for about 3 months saying I owed them close to $400. I told them they were crazy and I never signed up for any of that crap. They called me one day and asked a ton of questions and the next thing I know they are billing me for some magazines and other crap I didn't want. I told my wife, I thought I'd won a hunt or something when they first called. I don't even know how they got my number. I called and argued with a man for 30 minutes and he said I had to pay it in full. I got the name of the manager, called straight back and he said, "Sir all you have to do is send it back, along with a note saying return to sender." After I'd argued with the guy for 30 minutes. ooooohh I gave him some choice words and I told ol Jackie Bushman where to go.

That's exactly the sort of thing I was talking about. There's much better things to spend you're money on as far as hunting/magazines go. There was a very long thread over on Archery Talk back in the Spring about several people having experiences similar to yours.

I'll never buy anything buckmasters and I won't even watch that show anymore. When your dealing with someones money, it's personal.
