Good round and a pleasure to shoot. I have owned several of them and have always liked the cartridge. Flat shooting and light recoil make them a real winner here.

Absolutely love mine. Great rifle and a pretty flat shooter. Think everyone in my family that hunts has killed a deer with that rifle now.

I really like a 25/06, I have owned 1 and wish I still had it. It was a H&R Ultra Hunter, and it shot great 1" groups at 100yds. easy of bench. I'm in the process of getting a new rifle setup in a single shot with interchangeable barrels. I have been back and fourth over what calibers to get. I thought long and hard about a 25/06 as one of the options but the ammo is high. The reason for a change at all is because of price of ammo so I'm stuck between 30-06 and 308, for the big game caliber and 243 and 223 for a varmit/predator/dog/cat/can/paper load. I know the 308 & 223 would be cheapest because there military rounds but 30-06 and 243 are most common deer cartridges and should be readly available, and not to expensive.
But back on the thread subject 25-06 would fit the bill for both IMO. Just alittle expensive for someone who shoots alot, and I'm sure you could kill and elk sized critter with one but I'm not sure if its the weapon of choice for a critter that big. Not that I'm a big elk hunter but I might get to go one of these days. Heck some outfitters in Canada won't let you deer hunt with anything smaller than a 7mm Mag., which I think is crazy. I wish they would let me sit in a stand with a 25-06, and run them big bodied bucks by me. I bet I could pile'em up.

Bought my 700 BDL in 1980. Still have it. I made 11 straight 1-shot kills before I ever had to do a follow-up shot (actually two follow-up shots) on number 12. The .25-06 is my favorite all-around rifle, for my hunting both here and in Colorado.
