I have an Remington 11-87 that I intend on using for Turkey season.
I bought an Remington xfull straight rifled choke. Has anyone used one? Why it is rifled I dont know. should that help?
I'd appreciate any input, and experiences with this choke.
Thanks, mike

The theory is that it grabs and slows the wad plus stabilizes the shot string. As in everything that has to do with shotgun patterns you will have to pattern it in the gun you'll be using. I hadn't heard that Remington had such a choke. Hastings at one time made a straight rifled turkey barrel. I never knew anyone that ever bought one. Good luck. Pattern, pattern, and pattern some more. Let us know how it works. Try several brands and sizes of shot if you can.

I used one of these chokes for several years in my 870. It shot good patterns with this choke. My advice is to try diff. brand shells as well as diff. sizes.

I hadn't heard that such a choke was available; But I was telling a couple of my friends a few days ago that a choke made like that would be a good idea.Hmmmmmmmmm.....It seems to me that it would prevent the load from spinning (spiriling)and therfore create a tighter pattern.Even without riflelings in the barrel I,m surethe load is spinning as it comes out of the muzzle.

My buddy has a custom gun with straight rifling & the choke is straight rifled also. It will shoot devastating patterns. This years NWTF Still-Target shoot in Ga will be very interesting. At our sanctioned shoot he almost broke the record. The record is 42 pellets in a 3" circle at 40 yds. He put 40 in a 3" circle. The record is with Hevi-shot. Winchesters record is 34 pellets. He was using Winchester HV #6 3" shells. If nothing happens to the gun he may get Winchester back on top.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for him. If the over hyped hevi gets beat I'll have a great big [:D].
