So, I decided I would see how much the ole gun dealers around Louisville thought my rifle was worth. I don't use it much, so I was considering selling it.

It's a Remington 700 SPS chambered in .270WSM. The scope is a Leopold VX-I 3x9x50. It's been to the range twice since I bought it in 2005 and nowhere else. Never in weather or anything of the sort.

These guys took the price of the scope (new), chopped 33% off of that and offered me that for the whole rig.

There's NO WAY I would sell my rifle for that big a loss...even if I never shoot it again!

Surely my gun is worth more than that!

Even tho they have to buy lower to be able to sell reasonable,they're trying to rip you off BIG TIME! Sell it to private party and get close to what it's worth or better idea yet-unless you really need the christmas cash-keep it for spare,backup,or loaner rifle.

Yeah what he said! You would be getting screwed and they would turn around and make a pretty pennie off you. They do have to buy under cost to turn a profit but dang!

If you don't need the money, the gun isn't eating anything. Leave it in the gun safe. You never know what the future holds.

I'd like to use the money to pay some bills and buy a pistol. I guess I'll give the ole courier journal a call...

I had two separate places offer $200. Neither one of them looked at the rifle itself. One guys said, "a scope is a scope". I think about $650 would be a good price.

$650 doesn't sound bad for that setup with that little wear. Wish I had the extra cash right now! Good luck selling it...I wouldn't think you'd have too much trouble. 270 is a nice round, and I love that 50mm obj lens! Maybe try Courier Journal or find someone that has some feedback already to put it on gunbroker for you. Or maybe some day they'll put the classifieds back on here...

While I'm more of a 7mm man (have 3 rifles in 7mm,1-7mm08,1-.284,and 1-7mm mag),and can't stand 50mm objective lens (just puts it too darn high where I lose "cheekweld"),a buddy is looking for a rifle and I'll let him know. pm me or email me exactly where you're located,(I'm bout an hour south of louisville),how much you want right now no quabble cash price.
