Anyone had any trouble using the hunt log? I entered in that I saw 1 doe and it showed up as me harvesting a buck. I even backtracked to the form to make sure I didn't just enter it wrong.

Hey Flint, I guess we both are hanging around the "check-in station" to see what today brought on.
The only problem is there are no pork rinds or coke-colas here.[:)]

Okay guys .... sorry for the trouble with the log.

http://www.kentuckyhunting.com/hunt_log.asp

I am embarrased that my code did not work correctly. I usually test and re-test code, but I was in a hurry and that is what happens.

I think I have everything working correctly now ... so I deleted all info entered up to this point (since it was obviously not correct).

Go ahead and re-enter your information and <b>let me know how it goes</b>.

Once I get all the bugs worked out, I will put a link to the log on the main homepage, but I wanted you guys to test it for me first.

Thanks a lot ... and sorry for the trouble.

Okay ... things seem better now with the log.

As I said before, I will spruce the pages up and make them easier to use and navigate. (As soon as I get some time.)

I just built a page that shows all entries in the log to this point, and I thought you guys may want to see that:

Be sure and log your hunts.

I just found out (wasn't sure earlier if I could get out) that we are heading out in the morning EARLY!!! Hope to have a great day in the woods to report for tomorrow! Have a great, safe, hunting day y'all!

I just added to your hunt log. Saw 6 deer on saturday evening including a very nice 8 point that was stairing my friend and I down as we were walking out. It walked up to about 20 yards of us, but because it was looking right at us, neither one of us could draw.

I saw a nice buck in velvet on Saturday evening too. Like you, I would think the velvet would be gone by now, but I guess not. Last year my friend shot a nine point that had some velvet hanging off of it. It wasn't much though.

What a trip,
Sunday morning, had a nice a nice hnt. Went back out in the evening and was on stand about 5:00. About 20 min. later I heard something running at me, looked up to see a ground hog come busting over the hill and run into a hole about 20 yards from me on a creek bank, he turned around and came back out of the hole looking around at the same time a Tom turkey was coming from the opposite direction, the ground hog stood up and watched the Tom walk by and then took off running after him. He chased him about 70 yards out of sight. Have you ever seen anything like that before? At about 7:30 I had two great big bucks, coming down a fence line toward me and they jumped over the fence onto property which I can't hnt. Any ONE of the FOUR would have made my day! Happy hntn, guy's!

Got out Saturday morning to try my luck again. Didn't see anything by about 9:30AM so moved to another stand. I actually took down a stand and moved it. I got it set about 10AM near a couple heavy runs. I waited about 10min and right behind me was 2 bucks. The first was a 4 point and right behind him was a 7 point. I was after a doe, so I decided to just let both of them walk, not to mention there is a very big 8 point in the area too so I didn't want to shoot a young buck. The 4 point came just about under my tree stand and stared at my pack and camelback. I left them on the ground since I wasn't going to stay there very long. That buck got suspicious of what it saw, them immediately looked straight up the tree at me. I stared at me for a few seconds and ran off. It was like it knew I was there when it saw the stuff on the ground.

Today while bush hogging I jumped up 3 dandys. Two eight points and a whopper 12 point. I know exactly how many points because after they jumped up, they just trotted off about 25 yards and stood and watched me. I parked the tractor (engine still on) and sat and watched (counted points) for about 10 minutes until they meandered over the ridge where I ran into them again later on. This time from only about 20 yards off. I always heard that deer ignore tractors and now I'm a true beliver.
Not only did I get to see the biggest deer I have ever seen, but I got to sit and just hang out with him. Man what a day!!!
It didn't matter that I wasnt hunting. I'm just pumped to get to even see a deer like that!

Oh yeah...I also saw 7 other deer besides the 3 big bucks. All does as best I could tell.

Went yesterday to West Ky WMA... Took a buddy and put him in a good spot. He saw (3) deer, Two were does and one yearling buck. He had no shot at the does. I saw a deer (couldn't tell sex) right at dark making it's way along the edge of a field about 150 yards away.

Also had a deer stomp and blow as I was climbing tree, around 2:15
in the afternoon. Odd that I didn't see more where I was, I usually bank on this spot as my <i>Little Whitetail Hideaway.</i>

Saw 4 species of woodpecker, Cardinals, Fox Squirrels, Gray squirrels, chipmunks, mice, wrens, nuthatches, and several other tweety birds. I also discreetly killed 34 mosquitos and saw at least twice that many. Apparently the scent killer that I applied is an excellent mosquito attractant as well. I had several turkeys in close proximity, but I never saw any. I saw and heard no deer. Bring on the first freeze!

I went to Ft. Knox saturday with a friend of mine. We hunted down in some bottoms. We hunted till 11:oo am but only saw two does. We moved on up into the area and found a good hill that we literaly had to get on our hands & knees to get up. But once we got on top there was buck sign all over the place. Even tho we didn't get a shot at the buck, he did come in but a limb fell out of the tree about that time & he bolted. I did take a doe right @ dark . Thank God she came in on the right side of the hill and roll nearly all the way down to the bottom. I awarded her W/my bonus tag.[:D]

Coyote came within 5 feet of me (I was bird watching the fence line) he was after some little ground animal near me. He spotted me and went across field. Deer spotted him and jumped out of woods (found out later to protect her first fawn). Mr Unhappy neighbor walks his 20 acre property line to make certain no one gets near it and bulldozes through the woods flushing doe and fawn out. LUNCH BREAK and time to get socks. Change locations. Doe and fawn come trotting back out of the bean field back to their woods. New doe comes through bean field stops at fence row (next to unhappy neighbor and gives me a clean shot and waits and waits) didn't shoot because the little tasty doe was so close that if she ran threw fence Butt Head would not let me retrieve her (but he sure hunts our ground when he thinks were not looking the old codger).

15 minutes later another deer stands behind me on other side of thicket (in my scent wake) and grunts.

I didn't see much Saturday as well. Sat in my bow stand until about 10AM and didn't see a thing. Went out that afternoon and hunted till dark. I saw a 6 point about 45 yards out through the timber. He went behind some brush for a while, then popped out blowing and stomping. I was dead still in the stand, so I think he winded me.

First one of the year - nice plump young doe arrowed Sunday morning around 8:40. Got down to check for the arrow about 30 minutes later. Found it - complete pass through. I had watched her take off, loop around and head the opposite direction. I quickly picked up the blood trail and tracked for about 50 yards then, nothing. No more blood, no visible sign of kicked up leaves etc. Assumed she went down hill, but could find no sign. Searched for about 3 hours with my dad. Gave up and decided to move my stand slightly, based on buck sign found when looking for her. After that, we put up a stand for my wife at the bottom of a hollow not too far from mine. While walking up the creek bed, my father proclaims, "Is that something white up there in the creek?" Sure was, my deer! Eight hours later! Good thing it was cold yesterday.

I saw nothing from my stand this morning, but a ton of squirrels. On my way out of the woods, I spooked a 4-pointer. I went about 50 yards and saw a doe on the other side of a cedar tree. I shot over her by about an inch, so she is still wandering the woods.

He was a solid 120"-130" deer, Maybe next time!

Only saw a button buck and doe Saturday morning. They didn't offer clear shot, so I passed on them. The worst thing about Saturday was after I stumbled through the dark to get to my stand, I discovered that someone had stolen it. They took the steps, safety belt, and stand. Needless to say I was a little upset that morning. I hunt private property and there are only 2 others that hunt it. One of those guys hunts there pretty much only when I do, so I know he didn't steal it. Besides, he is a good friend from the Marine Corps. The other guy I haven't seen yet. I did notice some trail markers that morning heading down toward my stand, but not the whole way. They weren't there the last time I was out there. I'm now on the prowl to bring justice MArine style, to the individual who done this.
Sunday was better though. I hunted a permanent stand and managed to call in 3 bucks. I saw 2 of htem about 75 yards out in the timber and thought they were does, so I started calling in hopes of sticking a doe. They started to head away from me, so I laid heavy on the doe bleek. They turned and started my way and then popped out from behind some underbrush. A spike, button buck, and a 4 point came running up to me. I decided I wanted to take the button to fill an anterless tag, but as luck would have it, it didn't offer a shot. This guy would duck under the spike like trying to milk on it, then it stood right under the neck of the spike. Of course if wanted to take any of the others, I had ample opportunities. The 4 point even stood 20 yards out in front, broadside and head turned away for me to shoot. He felt so comfortable about being there, him and the spike laid down right out in front of me. I bet they milled around for about an hour or more before moving on. It was an exciting morning even if I didn't shoot anything.

[xx(]Not my most productive day in the woods...........
Arrived at my "spot" to find another (2) people there wandering around. Which is OK, I hunted WMA land today and took a buddy out.
So I switched plans and hunted an acorn ridge, well since I had to change plans I didn't take a stand, I had planned on hunting a blind I had made at a food plot......

About an hour into it I spied Three does in the feilds, so off I went on my stalk, I got within 40 yards, about ready to sneak in for the final approach and <b>BAM</b> busted by an unseen doe at 25 yards.

She never really spooked, she just knew something about that 225 pound mass of leafy wear camo crawling on the ground wasn't right.
Then all four of the does showed me why we call em' <b>WHITETAILS</b> and bounded away.....

O well, there will be another day[:)]
