View Full Version : DoubleBull Binds
I have a question for the guys that have experience with blinds. When hunting turkeys do you cover the windows with mesh or just leave them open ?I have heard that turkeys are unaffected by the black holes of the open windows but would like other opinions.

Well Tony, I have never hunted out of a blind but a few times, but the times I have, we left the windows open just enought to get a good shot. I hunted out of one this weekend and did have some jakes act weird around it, don't know if it was the blind, or they say something else they didn't like.
I have heard several people say they didn't effect the birds at all...some even hunting in wide open fields. I would think leaving them open wouldn't hurt much, just keep the movment down.

Yea you can leave them open, I would wear a mask or face paint though. Ideal blind to take a youngster or bowhunt out of.

My son & I left the mesh open and had a tom strutting at 15yds without seeing it[;)] It was the Ameristep Brickhouse blind, which is basically a smaller version of the doublebull!
what u get out, is what u put in

I would not leave them all open because it will let light in and let the turkey see in. I have the T2 and it is very hard to see movement inside if you have the windows closed because of the blackened fabric. I agree with KYGOOSE you need a face mask or paint to prevent them from seeing you the darker the better.

I have a KY-made blind from Shelter Pro in Stearns KY. I have their Model 45D blind that is the BEST you will use for gun-hunting in the woods. I've taken several youth out for their first deer & turkey with his blind. It weighs less than 10lbs & you CAN set it up in 10 seconds. I love it. Yes, I've used other types. For gun-hunting I like this the best. And wear a face mask anyway. I do, but mostly when I set up facing the sun. Sometimes I take a three-legged stool with me & sometimes I don't. This blind might be a little hard to find except by contacting Shelter Pro.

open windows are ok for turkey as long as you are camoed and DO NOT MOVE. Have to have mesh over the windows for deer.
