I just bought a Benelli Nova 12 GA with cammo finish. I took everyones advise and added a HS Undertaker choke. I feel that If I see old Tom out there I will be ready for him using 3 1/2 magnum #4 shot. I have noticed several people on shows and in Turkey books that I have read recommend using a Semi-Auto and have even said they would pay the difference and buy a 10 Gauge. What do you all use and what is it with that dang 10 GA?

An SP-10 weighs in at about 11 pounds. It funny to watch a buddy of mine that has one pack it out of the woods along with a 25lb. bird. Cries all the weigh about that damn gun, then the next time takes it out again.

The payload on a 12 gauge 3 1/2 mirrors the 10 in all respects. The 10 shins as a goose gun if you don't have to carry it very far. For ducks and turkeys, the 12 is better, IMO.

Teh gas and inertia operated guns have a lot less recoil, but cost more money. The pumps are more reliable in most cases.

I've got 3 turkey guns, and have used them all--an 835, an 870, and a Browning Gold 3.5". The Gold is the better of the 3 I have, in my opinion. Cost more too.

10 ga is evil enough said even if it weighs 11 lbs that helps out with the recoil of a 3 oz nitro mag load

The 10ga. is way to heavy for me to carry. I guess if I was into shooting birds at 60+ yards I would feel differently. At 25 yards the 20 gauge would work fine.
