Just curious to who you think will win the presidential election?
I can't help but have a feeling that McCain will do much better than he's expected to do.

As I stated before, John McCain will win, Obama can't win. I really have no doubt about it. I'm more concerned about our economy at this point, than the election.

I know what the polls say but I do believe that McCain will win. I really think that when people go to actually push the button, they will make the only logical choice and vote McCain. That's what I'm praying anyway!

I think it'll be a land slide victory for McCain...Mechelle Obama will fly off the handle and call everyone who voted for McCain a Racist to the utmost degree.... Will be looking forward to hearing what kind of speech Obama gives when he finally admits defeat to McCain.......
Bet Hillary will be smiling from ear to ear and just foaming at the mouth waiting for 2012. She'll be reminding the DNC of their wrong decision of nominating Barack Obama as their choice over her......
Look for Hitlery to show her ugly mug again around 2010 announcing her run again for the Presidency.

I hope McCain wins because I think the riots will be much more spectacular. Of course I am not counting out riots if Obama wins. All part of the Riot if we win, Riot if we loose philosophy. I plan on spending election night in front of the tube watching the civil unrest develop in some of the nations larger cities. :D

I don't like it , but....I'm a realist...Obama will when handily.
I do appreciate the optimism from the McCain/Republican supporters on here though.
As I have stated on here before...I will "waste" my vote on Bob Barr before I will vote in support of either of the two clowns that have been annointed the frontrunners.
Neither of them have been pro gun(remember Mccain-Feinstein).
Maybe one day a strong third party candidate can have a real chance. The two party system we have now is BROKEN! A good start may be to let people donate to the party of their choice on their tax returns instead of only having 2 choices. That might give a third party some more clout and credibilty. The repubs are too far to the right and the Dems are too far to the left. Partisanship is dividing this forum. What do you think it's doing for our country.---Mike Ezell

I'm thinkin either way there will be unrest in urban areas. Obama loses, defitnitly. Obama wins, imagine chicago if the Cubs won the world series only not just in chicago but in all urban areas. Can't wait to get home tomorrow night from work and watch tv, can't wait for this entire election to be over with period. Can't wait for Saturday morning . . .

+1...I do not believe it is a matter of 'if', but rather 'when and where'. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear that things will get ugly in some major urban areas. I frequent quite a few message boards (with people posting from all across the country) and there seems to a be a reoccurring theme. Everybody senses that something is wrong, that there a general feeling of discontent all across the country.

Anybody see the prediction on MNF? In the past 17 elections when the Washington Redskins lost the game before the election, the party that lost the previous election won that year's election. When the Redskins won, the incumbent party won.
Which means in tonight's game:
Redskins win = McCain wins
Redskins lose = Obama wins

I don't know if they won or lost the game before the election that year. The talking heads said they were correct in the last 17 elections. I have no idea whether it's true or not.

You all are delusional if you think the public is going to put another republican back in office with the shape this country is in. You all really are looking at the world through rose colored glasses. Accept it, Obama will be the next president of the US. Whether you like it or not, and I like McCain, but I unless I am very shocked, he doesn't stand a chance. he didn't do enough to seperate himself from Dufus, I mean Bush.
I do agree with what one person said, I think McCain would do a much better job than he is/will get credit for, I just don't think he will have the chance to prove it.

That includes driving to the Voting Precinct and driving back home. It took me around an hour and 10 minutes this morning.... Just unbelievable how many are showing up to vote.
I too heard of some voters talking among each other...Some saying they haven't voted in awhile, but that they ain't gonna vote for a specific person to become the United States President.

Mcain will win... unless there is another hanging "CHAD" fiasco or similar craziness!!!:D
Everyone remembers this right?
"Hanging Chads were made infamous in the highly contentious 2000 United States presidential election where a majority in the U.S. Electoral College presidential election in Florida was determined by the counting of punch card ballots. Incompletely-punched holes resulted in partially-punched chad, where one or more corners were still attached,a 'hanging chad', 'dimpled chad' or 'pregnant chad' - where all corners were still attached, but an indentation appears to have been made."

Here's a few things to think about.
1) Obama is definately well ahead in the polls. What does that mean? California, New York, Massachussets, Maryland and some other populous states are heavily Obama supporters. They might go 65% for Obama. That counts in the aggregate national totals...but they still only get the electoral votes apportioned to their state. Same with places like Texas which have huge populations and will go for McCain. Still, they only get the electoral votes they are assigned.
2) Three of the battleground states are Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. All of these states have substantial coal interests, Ohio in the southern part (West Virginia north) and Virginia in the western part. Pennsylvania has soft coal in the west and a huge anthricite industry in the northeast around Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Allentown. After Obama's revelation that his energy plan will bankrupt the coal industry, one would think that signficant blocs of these states' voters would vote for their own selfish interest to preserve coal. Since Obama's margins are wafer-thin in these states, the coal issue (along with his calling us "bitter people who cling to their guns, religion and antipathy for people not like them and Pa. Rep. John Murtha calling his constituents racists and rednecks), might tip the scale in the correct direction.
3) Florida. The big kahuna. Here's where the Republican Trust's Rev. Wright commercials are effective. Not only do they redden the necks of the Crackers in the Sunshine state, they bother the holy hell out of the sizeable Jewish population. Obama's willingness to deal with Iran without preconditions is a constant worry to our Hebrew bretheren, as is Biden's prediction of Obama being tested in the first six months. Many believe that that test will be a preemptive strike against Iran by Israel. For these and a host of reasons, Florida is very much in play for Mc Cain.
4) Missouri. KC and St Louis are as politically and socially corrupt towns as there are in the USA. Jackson County (KC) and St. Louis Counties are both pretty conservative outside the cities. The reaction of the good folks in the rest of Limbaugh land to the crookedness in the two major cities should be enough to tip the scale.
5) McCain does not need the popular vote to win this thing. Obama may well have miscalculated the political calculus in some critical battleground states that will allow McCain to be elected with a reasonably comfortable number of electoral votes and to lose the general election by a million and a half votes. Is that fair? Fair is what you go to in August to see the chickens and the pigs. The rules are what counts.
6) Should the worst happen and Obama drubs McCain, it will be no worse than 55-45. That would be unprecedented. That would mean that just under half of the people didn't endorse Obama's platform and only slightly more than half did. I have no scientific evidence to prove it, but I think we'd all agree that the McCain voters represent the 25% of the population that pays 86% of the taxes. These folks will not riot in the streets. They will riot in the mid-term elections by electing people who will stem the tide of runaway taxation Obama will create. If the opposite happens and McCain wins, there will be civil unrest. Those participating in the civil unrest would be wise to consider the fact that the McCain voters are the bitter gun-clingers...who are generally well-trained, disciplined and have the foresight to save a little money, provide for themeslves and to be prepared. If (and God forbid it happens), this sort of riot is undertaken, the instigators of the riots might want to consider those against who they are rioting. They're generally nice, civil, law abiding citizens, who will have both the means and motive to protect what they've accumulated through hard work and thrift.

Scott,
It's really simple. They take a election voting histroy and any new voters in the counties than they can go by that. If the thread is the same at the start of a few reporting counties they know how the reso of the state will go. If there is a big difference in the first counties to it's voting history then they hold for more counties to report to show a better voting thread.
I have thought it was over for a month now. It's not the end of the world. I heard a guy say today that if Obama wins, it's not going to change who he is or what he does. That's good advice.

CNN projects that Barack Obama will be the nation's 44th president.
http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/11/04/election.president/art.obama.01.gi.jpg CNN projects that Sen. Barack Obama will win the presidential election.
http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element/img/2.0/mosaic/base_skins/baseplate/corner_wire_BL.gif
As polls closed on the West coast, the Illinois senator was projected to receive enough electoral votes to pass the 270-vote threshold.
Obama is projected to win California, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii.
He also is projected to win Virginia, a state that hasn't voted for a Democratic president since 1964.
As Obama built up a commanding lead over Sen. John McCain, senior aides to the Arizona senator were growing pessimistic about his chances.
When asked if they saw a path to victory, two senior McCain aides said no.
CNN earlier projected that Obama will win Ohio, a key battleground state with 20 electoral votes.
No Republican has won the White House without winning Ohio. Going into the election, polls showed Obama with a 3-point lead there.
Obama and McCain are running a tight race in Indiana as results are tallied in the battleground state.
With about 85 percent of precincts reporting, McCain held a slim lead in the state.
In addition to the presidential contest, voters were making choices in a number of key House and Senate races that could determine whether the Democrats strengthen their hold on Congress.
Former Gov. Mark Warner, a Democrat, will win a Senate seat in Virginia, CNN projects. He will replace retiring Republican Sen. John Warner.
Incumbent Sen. Elizabeth Dole, a Republican, is projected to lose her North Carolina seat to Democratic challenger Kay Hagan.
Dole is the wife of 1996 Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole.

This is the most radical president of all time and i'll challenge anyone to the fact. This nation will be lucky if it survives President Barack H. Obama.
I still REALLY like W.

Well this country finally got what it wanted, a Black president, whether he is qualified for the highest office in the world or not, we got him. If it was a black lesbian, it would be even better.
Stock up on guns and ammo while you can get 'em, in a few years that will be the only item of value, usefull for defending you're food /family with.
God help us.

Could someone PLEASE tell me how the media can project a winner when you can go to the map on msnbc, and it shows California and it's 55 electoral votes going to Obama with only 6% of polls reporting....hardly any states have more than 50% of polls reporting:confused: Geez isn't it a tad bit early to say WHO is President elect? Explain PLEASE:rolleyes:

The real question is how long before Israel wipes Iran off the map in a preemptive strike. My guess is before inaguration day...they really dont have a choice they are on their own now.

You have 3 things at play here.
1) historical voting record
2) pre-vote polls
3) exit polls (post vote)
polling companies survey people who voted and published those results.
when you combine it with historical voting records you can make a "projection"

These two quotes disturb me more than the results of tonights election.
You two just gonna give it up or what? Better stock up for sure, but more than that you better be ready to stand up for your beliefs.
Before you go to the gun shop though, you should send an e-mail or phone call to Mitch McConnell and let him know that gun owners got him through this election and we expect a friend.

IMO Obama is in trouble, he should have backed out long ago. Idk who would want this mess we are in. Obama has so much on his plate come january there isnt going to be much he can do but deal with the mess.

I don't plan on giving up. I think Mitch will do us good, but we should still remind him. I did watch part of Obamas(it is now a capital offense not to capitalize his name:D) speach and he said he will be sure to listen to everything the American people have to say(bs) so when it comes time to reinstate the assault weapons ban do you think he will listen to the 80+ million gun owners(no). Wonder what would happen if each of those 80 million filed individual lawsuits similar to the D.C. challange?
Hope for best. Prepare for the worst!
Yeah, unfortunatly I feel under-prepared, after a buddy told me he has 11,000 rnds of 223 stocked. I only have 3,000 7.62 and 1500 223.

I agree, I don't think he is ready for the task ahead, he basically admited in his speech it probably won't get taken care of in one term, but he has "hope" that things will work out. Wow, way to have confidence in yourself and your leadership skills to run a country in need.
We're screwed

Never, ever thought the American people would elect someone with " NO " experience to lead this Great Country.... I honestly believe that the Military will suffer more now than when Clinton was in Office....The next war will be on our own land here in the States....:(

I think what we'll see almost immediately is a large effort to shed responsibility off of Obama. What we'll now hear are things like, "Bush screwed us up so bad that Obama isn't going to be able to fix it all", "this will take a lot longer than anticipated". We've been told for years how dumb Bush is, and now they are going to claim that he was so "dumb" that he created problems that Obama can't fix.;)
The argument from the left has been that Bush caused all of this, and Obama can fix it all. We'll see how long that line of thinking lasts. I think millions of people just realized that the President doesn't control gas prices and can't single handedly cause a financial crisis. In fact, I'm willing to bet that millions just decided that the president is not actually the one behind every problem in this country.

I know alot of this great country is celebrating the fact we just made history but being president is deeper than just skin color ( i would have voted for colin powell) NOT Obama. Im very sadden by this news and scared about the direction this country will move towards. hopefully the terrorists will not attack us on our shores anytime soon :(

Joe Biden already said they will, soon.
Said it will happen within the first 6 months of Obama's term..... Hard to believe that Obama would have one of the leaders against his Presidency run as his Vice President... Biden threw every stone he could at Obama while the Primaries were going on, and Obama still picked him to be his VP..... Just don't seem right to me...

I guess the great unknown starts in January. I hope that all the people that voted for Obama know more than i do. I just think its a little thing called experience to bad he doesn't have any. Great nation usually ran by great men. I can hear it now in 4 years being said all over the world " The United States used to be a great nation " Just my .02
