With all these young folks hitting the polls in record numbers this year many are voting Obama. It may be becauses of his Hollywood persona. He seems more hip and cool conpared to McCain.....but these kids don't know what it is raise a family or put food on the table. No responsibilty. Most could care less about the second amendment. I think they like Obamas talk about "giving" them free college and health care (although nothing is ever free).
I have voted every year since I was 18 but looking back I'm not sure I knew enough to make the right choices. Is 18 too young to have the life experieces to pull the lever for a president ???

hopefully thier teachers arent like my professors at brescia u.... all the liberals have brain washed most of the kids into believing what the prof. beleives when it should be the student making thier own informed decision......

If they are old enough to be sent to some 3rd world hell-hole by their Commander-in-Chief, then they are old enough to have a say in who that Commander-in-Chief is going to be.
Granted, an 18 year old today is not as mature as an 18 year old 40 years ago, but I suppose we have to draw the line somewhere, and that appears to have been on a person's 18th birthday.
If you are going to impose a "maturity" test to be able to vote to appease the conservatives, then you would also have to look at an "intelligence" test to appease the liberals.
Everything comes with a price, ya'know.

I agree completely. I think a lot deals with universities these days and their liberal teaching. Seems more and more are becoming liberal. Hell, even at WKU you run into your fair share of liberal teachers. I can't beleive some of the things they tried to teach me that didn't stick.

The Vietnam War changed all that. Before then, you had to be 21 to vote. If you could be drafted and die, you should be able to vote for your Commander and Chief.

The 18 year olds you speak of break overwealmingly republican. Do you know that we do not have the draft anymore? If they are in the military they should have the right to vote. If they are not in the military then maybe we should take another look at them. As far as I am concerned, if you do not pay taxes you should not be able to vote. And that includes the 44 percent of americans that pay no income taxes at all. You should only have a say in Government if you are contributing to the government coffers. Period, end of story. HEATH

I was called everything but a white boy by most of the UK students who saw my NOBAMA and McCain stickers on my Jeep at the last football game. I'm pretty sure the majority of kids there will be supporting Obama. :(

How surprising, more liberal snobbish "I'm smarter than you" insults. And you guys wonder why you're not liked here. Someone should put together a list of you and your son's putdowns to the rest of us dumbasses here. There's one in every other post you all have made, at least.

Many parents felt the same way in 1968, when 18 year olds could vote. I have a 22 and 26 year old children. They may not vote in the direction I want, but I am very thankful that they care enough to participate in our government. Neither have missed an election or primary since they were eligable to vote.

That is great, to have children interested in government processes, most aren't! But, most 18 year old kids are just that, kids!

Would you fly in jet, piloted by two 18 year olds, or, let an 18 year old perform your brain surgery, or build your house! Would you vote for an 18 year old, if he could run for president?.........Wait, I know your answer to the last question, if he was a democrat, you would! I think even a liberal, such as yourself, can see where I'm going with this!;)
