Got a killer sinus infection I guess. Wife and kid both sick. Several other people I know have it. Will antibiotics work or should I just let it run it's course? The pressure in my head is killing me. Ears hurt, eyes watering, headache, can't breathe. I'm never been as sick as I have been this year since we had Jacob.

My boss missed most of last week with one.

I had one two years ago that required 4 trips to the doctor and 8 different meds to finally get over.

Go to the doctor... do it now. I have never had pain like that in my life when I decided to just let mine run it's course. Once it started coming out, it wouldn't stop.. literally. My sinuses were so inflamed they felt like they had been flushed with gasoline and then ignited. It was excrutiating.

Not sure on the meds but hope you get tofeeling better. I know an Expectorant loosens up the lungs, not sure about head pressure and drainage.

Terry I wouldnt chance it......Gun season is next weekend and I know several that have tried to suffer through it that ended up with pneumonia.....One had to go to the hospital with a colapsed lung.....

go to doc, trust me. until then take some vicks vapor rub and put it in a pot of boiling water and breathe the vapor. it will loosen it up.

take some fighting cock (or choice of bourbon) and mix it with some 7-up and drink a bunch of water. the bourbon will help you relax and sleep.

I love anything thats hot. I found a asian cookbook the other day so I picked it up. 50 cents for the book.
1. three tbs spoons-of ground mustard powder.
2. three tbs water.
3 a pinch of sugar and a tad bit of salt you can adjust theses 2.
And man I am talking friggen hot. if you have breathing problems take it easy, this stuff Rocks!!!!!!!!! I may never buy hot mustard again!!!!! :D

If its bacterial, antibiotics will help. If it is viral, then no help from antibiotics. In the meantime, pseudoephedrine as per the label. It is a decongestant, and thats what I would take. But I don't advise you to as it may raise your blood pressure. But that is the drug of choice for stuffy head, nasal drainage, most sinus problems. Benadryl may help also, but only you know your medical history. See a doctor.

Is Mucinex like Zicam? Because, I tell ya... go get some Zicam. It won't do you any good now but next time you feel like you're starting to get cold symptoms, use it. That's some strange sorcery there because it'll stop a cold in its tracks. It's worked twice for me in the last year.

I'd try the saltwater through the nose. We bought one of those kits and I looked at in in fear for a few months before I got the nerve to try it. It is very strange when the water runs up through you sinuses and comes out the other side, but by God it will clean it out. It may not work if you are too stopped up to get the water in there though.

you better go to the doctor. My sister had a bad sinus infection the doctor told her to never let it run its course. He said that it can actually eat your sinus cavity out. Can be a dangerous thing.

I had a sinus infection from hell a few years ago. Couldn't sleep for 2 nights. Finally got some antibiotics and something called Guafinex and in 1 hour flat, the dam broke. I leaked thin yellow crap through the nose for days and when the big chunks broke loose, watch out. The zicam swabs actually caused a sinus infection for me a couple of years ago. I thought I would be smart and go straight to the source but that turned out to be not such a good idea.

I have used the tablets since and can't tell that those or mucinex has ever had much of an effect.

Sinus infections are really serious. 3 yrs ago i got one really bad during turkey season. My ear tube stopped up. They almost had to do surgery. My ear has not been the same since. I have had more sinus problems just on that side of my head since that infection.

This makes about 2tbls. make it and take it all at one time. You wont remember your sinus problems.....TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! just dont touch your eyes or your dinger!!!!

I got the one with a squeeze bottle, you can put a little force behind it that way. I don't think the regular pot would get enough pressure.:confused:

Omg, my nose has been running a lil bit for a couple weeks now.. and after i'd get out of the shower i could always blow out a pretty good bit.. so with me learning about a netti pot..

i started diggin in the kitchen drawer and found a lil measuring cup with a spout... mixed up some warm salt water and went at it... oh boy.......... thats something else, it was reallllllllllllllllllllllly strange feeling that water run up in there.. but man there sure was a lot of snot that came out.. feel a lil better too
